I'm dating a guy and we talked about what our r/ship is, I wanted to be bf/gf but he wanted to keep it casual. So I agreed and continued seeing him. Then a couple weeks later he says out of the blue "So why do you want to be my girlfriend?" I kind of got nervous and fumbled the conversation. But could it be he has changed his mind and that is why he is bringing it up again? He wants to "reassess?"

You can't guess what he meant, you need to ask him why he asked. It may be that having given your relationship some thought he's decided he does want you to be your girlfriend. Or, it may simply be he's being egotistical and wants to hear you say some flattering things. Let's hope it's the former. Good luck.

It sounds like he's at least contemplating becoming serious with you. Think about his question, and give him an open and honest answer. Tell him why you want to be serious. Write it down and tell him if you need to.

Yes, he wants a commitment now. He may not have wanted one earlier because may have felt you were wanting to much to fast. He's ready now so go for it.
