this is a very flexible answer-needing question, as it is a vague one. if the cats get along well, as many as will tolerate each other until the fish run out. then make it a dry terrarium for a while without moving critters inside to attract the kitties.
if you are serious about keeping kitties out of a fish tank, would not a cover for the tank be a proper answer???
but if you enjoy watching kitties swim and catch fishies and play in water, see how many tolerate being thwere together--that would be your answer.also size--more small ones fit than large ones.
good luck with this problem.

I'm finding this a weird question. if you are talking about real cats then I would just get rid of the fish. If you are talking about catfish then I really don't know but you could ask your fish dealer.

Well not many if its got water in! If you are being serious none, cats need a large area to "roam" I suggest getting a strong lid for the tank to keep them out

Sorry all celebrities look the same to me, EDIT NOTE:. Wrong answer. I saw two questions and answered just by clicking on the question using the photo as guide. A big mistake which has to be explained because the question I was after is the one where you ask if you looked like Trevor.
Well, I could have rubbed off the answer but I feel you need an explanation of how a level 5 guru with a higher than very high IQ could be so off message. But it does happen.

I don't think you should keep them in there at all times, but if they like to go for a dunk every once in a while, they should be fine.
Try using plastic fish in the tank; they'll last longer!
