Yes, alcoholics do have eating disorders - you did hear the word alcoholics - people who drink to extreme - EVERY DAY.

Here is why. Alcohol is ethanol. Ethanol is seen by the body a fuel (sugar). So, when the alcoholic drinks, he doesn't need to eat, the drink gives him enough energy (fuel) to perform his daily panhandling, or whatever - going to work with a hangover.

When the person get hungry, they turn to alcohol for their fuel, because the toxic effects of alcohol withdraw have start to take over (sweats, shake, nausia) and eating solid foods become difficult (remember Leaving Las Vegas). So in essence, the alcoholic abandons eating altogether for drinking.

Overeating is caused by alcohol in non-alcoholics. Ever heard the phrase "whet your appetite". Well, that refers to drinking a small amount of alcohol prior to your meal; alcohol in small doses prior to a meal actually makes you more hungry.

Now what does this have to do with earthquakes?

No animals can not predict earthquakes - that's impossible, but they do know before we do when one has happened - now how is that possible, I wonder?

Alcohol consumption can affect a healthy dieter, or cause someone to "starve" because they are so sick that they don't feel like eating. But as I learn more about addiction, it is possible that eating can become another symptom of the disease and a person can gorge on food to feel good as much as someone can drink for the same reason.

Animals have a better sense of hearing than humans. They can notice the sounds of an earthquake long before we can. They can pick up the sounds that occur at the beginning of a quake and have more time to react. There can be other ways that other animals can sense danger that we aren't aware of yet.

Yes alcohol can cause eat disorders. As the liver becomes toxic, the other organs in your system start to shut down.
Just think of alcohol as the waste by-product of bacteria as it eats amino acids.You are really drinking something Else's piss and ****! Just pass me another.
Animals can detect an earth quake before it happens. This is because an earth quake lets of low frequencies That some animals can either hear or feel. While other animals pick up on the fear and flight of other animals and react to it.

A lot of alholholics don't eat at all when they are on a drinking binge, then when they do stop they will eat a lot.

I know I tend to eat more the next day after a night of drinking.

And yes animal can tell if there will be an earthquake.

Two totally different questions....I guess you didn't want to lose 10 points. If you drink a lot of alcohol, you don't feel like eating. Not exactly an eating disorder unless you do it every day. 2-Animals have detected eartquakes & other natural disasters. Also there are animals who can detect when someone is going to have a seizure.

I am not sure....but my mother has been an alcoholic for years and about a few years ago we discovered that she also has an eating disorder....bulimia...I would assume there is a connection.

drinking can cause a lot of things: unwanted pregnancy, VD's, hang-overs, embarassing memories...but eating disorders? i don't think so...especially because whenever i am drunk, i feel skinny and think i look "good" which is NOT the case.

i do think animals have that extra sense...
