Generally building with steel is less expensive, better for the intended use, and stronger than other materials. Probably explains why most hangars today are built from steel. If you are building one at your home (on an airport community), then you may want to use other materials but a steel support structure still makes a good frame. (Saves trees as well.)

Many aircrafts such as f-117 nighthawk, and the f-15 eagle, the most popular one of the time was the A-10 thunderbolt, hope this helps
