Make sure it has a phone line hookup, especially if you have satellite, since they use the phone line for caller ID on screen, and to order special events. Lots of people who are hit it comes over the phone line.

Also make sure EVERYTHING that is connected to the TV is also connected to the protector. Surround Sound, DVD, VHS, Computer, Be Careful sparky

You need to get your outlet AND the antenna (unless you're on cable) grounded well before you start worrying too much about surge protection. Surge protectors (and your tv) will not survive direct lightning strikes, but surge protectors are great when the power company voltage drops causing your tv to try and pull too many amps. Usually, brand name tv's will survive these conditions anyway.... except the lightning.

Theres a surge supressor brand out there, it's called Monster, just google "Monster Surge Supressor". Our house was struck by lightening and it fried a bunch of stuff, so we hooked up all the really important stuff up to these things, they're a tad expensive, but they're worth it our house has been hit twice since then and nothing's been touched since we've had them.

I would get a good one. Expect to pay $75 for one that will really protect your TV. This is much more important for high-end TVs and it will be a cheap investment in the next thunderstorm.
