There are two issues involved in this question. (1) There are things that the Bible specifically mentions and declares to be sin. Examples of such lists include: Proverbs 6:16-19; Galatians 5:19-21; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10. There can be no doubt that these Scriptures present the activities as sinful, things God does not approve of. Murder, adultery, lying, stealing, etc. – there is no doubt that the Bible presents such things as sins.

(2) The more difficult issue is in determining what is sinful in areas that the Bible does not directly address. When the Bible does not cover a certain subject, we have some general principles in His Word to guide us. (a) When there is no specific Scriptural reference, it is good to ask, not whether a certain thing is wrong, but rather if it is definitely good. The Bible says, for example, to "redeem the time" (Colossians 4:5). Our few days here on earth are so short and precious, in relation to eternity, that we ought never to waste time on selfish things, but to use it only on that "which is good, to the use of edifying" (Ephesians 4:29).

(b) A good test is to determine whether we can honestly, in good conscience, ask God to bless and use the particular activity for His own good purposes. "Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God" (1 Corinthians 10:31). If there is room for doubt as to whether it pleases God, then it is best to give it up. "For whatsoever is not of faith is sin" (Romans 14:23). (c) We need to remember that our bodies, as well as our souls, have been redeemed and belong to God. "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's" (1 Corinthians 6:19,20). This great truth should have a real bearing on what we do and where we go with our bodies.

(d) We must evaluate our actions not only in relation to God but also in relation to their effect on our family, our friends, and other people in general. Even if a particular thing may not hurt us personally, if it harmfully influences or affects someone else, it is wrong. "It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor anything whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak... We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves" (Romans 14:21; 15:1). (e) Remember, finally, that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior, and nothing else can be allowed to take priority over our conformity to His will. No habit or recreation, or ambition can be allowed to have an undue control over our lives -- only Christ has that authority. "All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any" (1 Corinthians 6:12). "Whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus" (Colossians 3:17).

Friend you have brought out many good points, & I can not disagree, But we also have to know how to apply each scriptures you mentioned, In a revelatory way. I too, know the scriptures, I have been serving God almost 37 yrs. I belong to no denominations, Only to a local congregation, & we go by The Apostles Doctrine & teachings. If you want to call me anything call me an Apostolic Pentacost, according to the Apostles doctrine. Sometimes we have to also read the verses before & after your subject to get a whole clear picture, as in Eph.4:29, Many can take that as meaning no everyday clean conversation, that everything that comes out of our mouth has to be something about God, Or we should just keep our mouth shut, That would put a burden on my employer, If I could not ask him something about a job. We also have to look at that word edifying, Did you know the 9 spirituals gifts is also for edifying. Now concerning things that comes our way & we have no bible to answer our question, That is why God has put that spirit of the Holy Ghost which is God himself in us. Even the Apostle Paul said many times that he say this in his own words, That he does not have this answer from God But him being an Apostle of the Lord, He knew that God intrusted in him to make right every day decisions, & now in the Body of Christ, it is the same way. Good verses you used. Not many will use what you have used, I agreed with you But I just wanted to also let you know there was more to what you said.

It would be to my pleasure if you would aspire to rise above your present level, which is flesh and blood. No matter what you do, you can never be righteous and will never be justified before GOD. Adam was banished from spiritual life with GOD in the Garden of Eden in Paradise into a life of flesh and blood in a world Satan rules. The banishment was for a purpose: That man will not live for ever. Genesis 3:22&23.

The purpose of the Mission of Jesus Christ is to bring man back to life in the spiritual so that he will be led by the Spirit and subsequently have eternal life. When that happens, you have the righteousness of GOD and you are no more under the law. Galatians 5:18.

The difficulty flesh and blood has lies in the fact that GOD is Spirit. All of His activities are spirit. The law is spirit, Romans 7:14, so flesh and blood cannot obey them. Jesus Christ says: "The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life." John 6:63. It means then that the words of GOD have fulfillment and compliance in the spiritual only.

Nothing whatsoever done in the flesh can bring man to eternal life. The resurrection of Jesus Christ overcomes this. By the promise of GOD contained in the New Covenant, baptism unites one with Jesus Christ in His death and resurrection. Romans 6:3-10; Galatians 3:27; Colossians 2:12. If this is properly done, then one is born of water. It is then that one can meaningfully follow and obey the words of GOD. The flesh cannot achieve anything.

It is rather unfortunate that Christians neither follow the Bible nor comply with the teachings of Jesus Christ. The New Covenant has been ignored. The need to be born of water has been replaced with 'give your life to Christ' which leads to nowhere. It is not in the Bible. Also, it is not the teaching of Jesus Christ.

Good question. I always asked why thugs wear crosses and pray before they do a driveby. It didn't make much since to me. Many people use Christianity as a comfort but when it comes time for them to stand up for their religion they back down. Oh well you can only pray for those who are hypocrites. God Bless
