Paul described the faith of Enoch and other witnesses when he wrote: “Faith is the assured expectation of things hoped for, the evident demonstration of realities though not beheld.” (Hebrews 11:1) Yes, faith is the confident expectation, based on assurances, that the things we hope for will come true. It involves an expectation so strong that it affects the focus of our life.
. “Faith,” says the apostle Paul, “is not a possession of all people.” (2 Thessalonians 3:2; Gal. 5:22, 23.) “Faith,” writes the apostle Paul, “follows the thing heard.” (Romans 10:17) Hearing the Bible, not just having a Bible, is what builds faith. You “hear” what God has to say by reading and studying his Word. Even young ones can do this. Paul says that “from infancy” Timothy was taught “the holy writings” by his mother and grandmother. Does this suggest that some kind of brainwashing was involved? No. Timothy was not manipulated or deceived in any way. He was “persuaded to believe” what he heard and read.—2 Timothy 1:5; 3:14, 15.
"6 Moreover, without faith it is impossible to please him [God] well, for he that approaches God must believe that he is and that he becomes the rewarder of those earnestly seeking him." (Heb. 11:6.)
Romans 10:10 says: “With the heart one exercises faith.”

According to the Holy, infallible Word of God. Faith is: the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Heb 11:1) Faith saves us "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God" (Ephesians 2:8) Without faith it is impossible to please God, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. (Hebrews 11:6)
Faith heals us. Repeated throughout the ministry of Jesus He says "your faith has made you well" Faith is powerful. Jesus says in Matthew 17:20 I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. Romans 10:17 tells us that "faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." James 1:22 tells us that "be doers of the word, and not hearers only" Faith is intertwined with works. James then 2:26 records "For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also" You cannot say you have faith and no works.

Faith is believing something without being able to prove it.
A 'Christian' has faith that the bible is true, and that God created the earth, and Jesus died for the sins of all mankind.
To them it is very real, and whenever most of them try to discuss their beliefs, it is hard for them to comprehend how someone else wouldn't believe in it, due to their lack of faith. Any 'proof' offered up by a person of faith still requires you to accept certain things as fact.

Hebrews 11:1 is the description of faith, but Hebrews 12:2 is the definiton of faith. Faith is best defined as "Looking unto Jesus". Whenever we are looking unto the Lord Jesus we are having faith that He knows what is best and is taking care of our needs. If we are not looking at Christ, we are looking to everything else, and especially ourselves. Only Christ has the answers to our questions and the means to take care of us.

Believing in something you can not see. Faith without works is dead. Meaning if you believe in something then accept it.
