No hurricane has hit the UK in recorded history. There have occasionally been hurricane-force winds, but no hurricane. The famous 1987 storm was damaging, but not hurricane-force inland, and neither was the Burns-night storm of 1990.

Next one?

I was just going to say that but someone sorta bet me to it (see above)

I would say the " next " hurricane might arrive around the year 2020 sometime in August.
However when you try this make sure that you have very strong kite & kite string.

I've never flown a kite in the rain so I really don't know how well this can be done but hurricane winds would certainly help.

You have plenty of time to practice before this event so take a trip to the Caribbean there are several hurricanes a year nowa days .
The hurricane season seems to have been expanded just for you . Its now between the beginning of May and the end of October with the best chances in July, August & September. (old season)

Have fun, hope to hear from you soon.

it was pretty windy today i should know i was trying to play golf in it. im fairly sure there have been two hurricanes in the u.k in the last few years one in birmingham just before the ashes test at edgbaston in 2005 and one in london last year. however it looks like we are set for mass blizzards in the coming months so not ideal kite flying conditions, certainly not paper kites anyway.

If a hurricane hits, you will be running for your life and not thinking about kites :-)

Great kite flying weather round my way now - in fact, you'd better put some rocks in your pockets, otherwise YOU might fly off, too!!!
