dogs have to be on leashes , so should cats , you should never let a cat just wonder around , and go in other peoples yards, you couldn't do that with a dog. I'm sure you are upset and I understand that but next time keep your animals in your home or on a leash.

I would feel terrible!!! That is why you need to keep your cats inside. There is no need for a cat to go outside. It is a prov en fact that indoor cats live much longer than those that go outside. This is a perfect example why. Now you will always wonder if it was hit by a car (have you looked around on the sides of the road ?) Went to someone else's house and made it's home there, was shot by a hunter (some hunters are very cruel) etc. If he was not altered he could be looking for a mate and could be back eventually,at which time you should make an inside cat out of him(if you are lucky enough to get him back)

That's sad to hear. I'd be extremely upset and ill-tempered if my cat never came back, but my cat is a house cat. But no cat's cannot be on leashes for the same reason cats do not have to wear 'cat-tags', they are a natural wild animal and they can survive on their own very easily. Maybe the cat is in heat and is in search of a female. Worse case scenario, he is injured and cannot return home yet or, well, yeah. Hope he comes back, if he does try and keep him little closer to home by keeping him inside the house a lot more so he can familiarize himself with the household and he knows where his real home is and not all over the block outside.

I am so sorry to hear that!!! That happened to my family during the summer, except we lost two cats!! I was very mad and my emotions were all confused!! See we had 3 cats. The mother cat a brother cat and a sister cat.We were having a yard sale when we noticed that the momma was missing. Then a couple days later the brother was missing. They were inside cats and they'd go outside because they loved it.So now the sister cat we do have stays inside and we never let her go out. So,after a couple of weeks your body will get over it.But the house will seem pretty lonely. It is here sometimes! I hoped this helped!!!

This kind of thing happens all of the time. Knowing that your cat is an outside cat, he likes to wonder. There could be many reasons why he didn't come back. For ex. he found a female cat, someone else is feeding him, who knows. Give him a week, if he doesn't come back, he's probably gone for good. I would get another cat, you can find them free all of the time.

I had a male cat who disappeared for 3 to 6 months at a time. I know what he was up too and when I got him fixed he was gone even longer. My husband said he was out canceling dates! I also had a fixed female cat that would do about the same thing be gone for extended lengths of time. Do not be surprised if one day your cat is sitting on the steps waiting to come in. I hope this is the case for you and I have also lost a few cats to the outdoors. I felt aweful and it makes me sad to think about it. Hopefully your cat will come back. Good luck.

I've had three outside cats mysteriously vanish. It is always very stressful and saddening.
BUT there is sometimes a happy ending! I have gotten back 2 of my 3 missing kitties. One was stolen! Some guy was driving down my street and saw my cat, which happened to look EXACTLY like his cat that disappeared 3 years before. So he took my cat and took it to his old vet - who (thank god) was also my vet. My doctor recognized MY cat immediately and told this man he was wrong. At first the guy did not believe that it wasn't his cat - but then the vet pointed out that my cat was female, whereas his was male.
The other cat just reappeared one day...he was gone for a whole month.

I have known cats that stay gone for a couple of months than stay home for a couple of months. I know you are feeling down but don't give up hope just yet. He may just be exploring the area. Maybe you and your family can look around the neighborhood for him or put up posters. If he doesn't come home after awhile quite possibly something could have happened to him. Just remember even though you are feeling down, things will get better.

I would NEVER have an outside cat because anything can happen. It's a dangerous world out there, especially if you live around other people or busy streets. You should have kind of expected him to disappear though, the world is not safe for domestic animals to roam free.

This is a good example of neglegance. You say your cat is an outside cat.....that is because you place him outside and let him run aimlessly through the streets like a wild savage. Cats are domestic animals. They should never be allowed to run freely. Fence your yard in and take him out and be with him and then bring him in the house when you go inside. Would you consider letting your kids run the streets freely? You are supposed to be the responsible pet owner. The cat needs to be taken care of and not free on his own. Your cat may have been hit by a car, poisioned by people who get upset with animals getting on their property and destroying there yard, it may have been attacked by another animal, it may have gotton caught in a trap, etc etcI am sorry if this sounds harsh but it is the simple truth. If you ever own another animal...take care of it or do not have one.

Someone may have taken him in.Id check the newspaper to see if anyone found it.Keep checking the paper often,,it usually takes 3days for an ad to appear. You may also place an ad.Or post signs asking for information about the cat with a copy of its picture if you have one & also~check your local animal shelter regularly & often.Do not just call & ask,,go there & search with your own eyes. You can also call your envirormental office & ask if anyone has picked up the cat in the road.Go there & show a picture if you can.Good luck.
