What sort of "hard facts" are you looking for?
Every conversion of a resource into another form, like refining oil into its various distillates or burning coal to create electricity involves inefficiencies.
Part of this inefficiency is the creation of by-products like pollution. I'll assume you'd rather breathe clean air and drink pure water than not.
No matter whether you think we have vast amounts of resources to use, they are not endless, nothing is. Everything you can do to use less resources will help make those resources last longer.
If we ever come up with a way to power all our dreams with no negative consequences, that may turn out to be a good thing. Meanwhile, don't you think it makes sense to try and avoid peeing in your own swimming pool?

Everyone should conserve energy for two reasons:
1 - All the fossil fuels we keep digging up are not a renewable resource and will eventually run out. So if we use less, they will last longer.
2 - By not using as much energy, there is less dangerous emmissions let off into the atmosphere, which would slow down global warming.

The earth has limited resources and we need to make the most of them all.
The conservation of energy can benefit you. You can save money, and you can save the planet.
If we all learn to conserve, do you know how much stress that takes off the planet's resources. Energy in the form of oil is used to power plant that produce electricity in many places. Many tree are taken down in order to produce a simple thing as paper. Do you see how much the country could save if everyone learns to use paper and power more reponsiblely. The points is conservation can benefit us all greately if we all practice it.

Besides the fact it will save U $. There is a thing called Natural Resources & when they run out they are gone. Not tryin to be a SA, Yes there are hard facts about using up the N. R. Population get's higher all the time. Look at Gas prices. They are getting ready to start drilling off shore of Florida where they never have & it's going to mess up this beautful coast line too. I hope I answered your question so it helps U understand.

In anything, conservation is always a good idea and waste, particularly in a time when there are so many going without, is wrong - in my opinion. I know that in the '70s there were a lot of statistics trying to explain to people how much further our electricity would go if people didn't leave lights and tvs on in rooms that were unoccupied. It really just makes sense - if the resource is limited, then using it most efficiently will make it last the longest.
Peace!

There is no shortage of fossil fuels and there never will be. Where do u think our original fossil fuel came from????Here is how Mother Nature does it.When fuel is burned it produces CO2 and with the plants they love us for all the CO2 we produce . The more we produce the better for the plants. The plants take in CO2 and keep the C and give us back O2 . so there is no CO2 problem and there never will be as long as we have plants. Now follow the C side that the plants kept, the plants grow big and they will loose their leaves which will wash down the river to the delta where it will turn into more Gas,oil, and coal. The earth has recycled it for millions of years ,you going to fix this???

Peak oil is a lie planted by the oil companies so they can charge us more. The United States is self-sufficient in abundant cheap oil, but the enviromentalist agents of the right wing are hired to put a moral costume on restricting lands from exploration. This is a form of hoarding. Haven't you noticed that most treehuggers are bossy-snob rich kids? Whose side do you think they are instinctively driven to work for? How about Al Gore's stock in Occidental Petroleum? Judge these agents provocateurs by where they came from, not by what public image they present.

We save resources when we conserve energy. Plus, I know that in Illinois (not sure about the whole country), electric bills are going up 22-50% this year, so you'll be saving money.

1. It saves you money on your electric bill if nothing else.
2. Generating electricity by burning fossil fuels generates CO2 which is a green house gas. The less electricity you use, the less CO2 you are putting out in the atmosphere.
3. It keeps strain off of electric grids during peak times. If the grid is overloaded and everybody decided to run their air conditioners, you could get power outages.
