I suppose if you've traveled alot, all the work involved with travelling will appear too much. If you love travelling and would like to see alot more of the world then the work will seem justified.

The packing is stressful. Do I have this, Do I have that? constantly wondering if you forgot anything. But worse than that is the unpacking. That is what I dread the most. The coming home and having to unpack everything, do laundry, put everything back up. That's why now since I travel so much on business, hunting trips, horse shows, family visits, etc. I have two of almost everything. I have a toiletries bag that I never unpack. I just decided it was easier to have an extra bottle of everything and never have to worry about packing and unpacking it. So now all I have to do is pack my clothes and I'm off. It also comes in handy when you run out of something and don't have time to go to the store, you always have a spare.

I have to agree with the Italian actress. Airports are stressful, all the passengers are stressed out, and if there's bad weather, it gets even worse. But I did it as a job and that may be why I feel that way. I enjoy travelling by automobile much more and having complete control.

I'd rather fly anywhere than drive. I get on the plane and don't have to worry about anything until I get off. I think it's less stress.

I've been traveling overseas for 10+ years, quite often as I live overseas from my "home country" and I have NEVER lost a bag, and only once had one bag delayed, mostly due to weather issues. Not a big deal. Many people make too much out of it.

I know I would be worried about my luggage. When I went to Europe, they lost my luggage on the way there, and on the way back! If you're going overseas, I would suggest bringing a carry on with a change of clothes and toiletries, just in case!

Well, I never worried about that stuff. I kept my personal items like my passport money, toothbrush etc with me. I also wore clothes that I would be comfortable in for a day or two in case my luggage was lost or stolen, and I never packed anything that I wouldn't miss. However, I was never going anywhere that would require a nicer dress, etc. I guess it is all in your frame of mind.

There's a lot true about that friend....but what is harder is coming to terms with different cultures.
You may see something you find utterly outrageous, but the locals pass it by without a word. eg. Thais living in shacks next to huge plush hotels.

That's where the hard thinking comes in, IMO.

Happy New Year.

I definitely agree. That is why I prefer to take my car to the ocean or up to the Appalachian trail to hike. It's much more relaxing than dealing with hectic airports, train stations, etc. Big cities and overseas travel is overrated.

It can be a lot, but if a person is prepared (and has a good sense of humor) then it shouldn't be too bad ever. I do tons of flying, sometimes for only a 2 day trip, it's worth it.
