I don't know any statistics about first born babies coming early or late. I do know that I had 4 babies and all came late. I do know that it is an old wives tale about raising your arms above your head. The supposed problem is that the umbilical cord will wrap around the baby's neck. There is no validity to that at all.

It is a wives tale raise your arms all you want. When your baby comes is when it comes, I believe it is pretty much 50-50 on coming early or late. Just be prepared to go at any time and also to have to wait. Your baby and body will decide when it is coming.

I heard the same thing about putting your arms over your head. Apparently they say it will wrap the umbillical cord around baby's neck. Hogwash!
I worked retail in a toy store while I was pregnant and stocked shelves and such all the time. There is no reason to worry about it. Just don't climb any ladders.
My first was earlier than the due date, but still full term. To the day, in fact. Baby wanted out!

Due date simply means baby should arrive in and around that time.
Statistics :5% births occur exactly on the estimated due date.
Due dates are concluded by measurements made on the baby via sonograms and by adding 9 months to the period date.
Yes ,i think the raising hands fiction comes from a myth that the umbilical cord is attached to muscles of the inner arm pit.So every time one raises ones arms the umbilical cord could wrap around baby's neck.Anyways unfortunately too many husbands know it to be a myth .Sadly it could have being used as a good excuse to get upper lofts /cabinet works done around the house. :)

The number of babies that arrive on their due date is about 5%. First babies tend to be earlier rather than later.
And, yes, it's an old wives tale that should shouldn't lift your arms over your head.

My first came late. I think most firsts do. At least they have with all my friends and I. Also.. yes that is an old wives tale. It is said that it will cause the umbilical cord to wrap around the baby's neck but they do summer salts in there and if it goes around their neck the doctor will take care of it.

I remember getting yelled at by my child's grandmother for raising my arms above my head. I think it is a little crazy. Sometimes you have to.
My first pregnancy I had my baby at six months he was way early. So I can't really tell you about first ones. My second I went right before my due date and my 3rd I went on my due date. Good luck to you!

A normal pregnancy is anywhere from 38-42 weeks. Many people think that if baby is not born a week after the "due date" that they are late and that is simply not true. Due dates are estimates only.
