Some of the info presented by others is correct, some is not. The website listed below has all the info you ever wanted to know about acne and how to treat it (and how not to treat it, for example, changing your diet has no effect).
The most common OTC products contain salicyclic acid or benzoyl peroxide (or both), usually as a wash. Give it time, if these don't help, see your family doctor.
Rx antibiotics are occassionally used (tetracycline family if over age 12 or erythromycin family). Rx Retin A (retinoic acid) cream or gel is also used. Rx Accutane (isotretinoin) is only rarely used and is reserved for severe cystic acne and is usually only prescribed by dermatologists.

No drugs. Only clean clean clean. Get a facial done and they will advise you what to use on your skin. I cant advise you as everybodies skin is different. I use ponds skin toner to cleans (works better than a cleanser and is cheap), Afterwards also use of a lot of moisturisers with spf15 factor, as I live in South Africa where we have very very hot weather in summer.

I am not aware of a "cure" for blackheads, becuz they are imbedded in our pores, inside the skin! But Biore Pore-Strips are excellent for me! They'll yank out the nasty blackheads, and if you wash your face after, your skin will appear really smooth right there for about a week. (Ponds Pore-Strips don't work for me. Remember: "Biore")

I know acutane is a common acne prescription. But you should see a dermatologist. They can help you find the rite regimen for your specific skin type.
