If it's just for decoration and won't be eaten, any type of ribbon should do. You will probably have to use a little icing to hold it in place.

If you want the ribbon to be eaten then you should get one made out of icing. You can make a ribbon out of fondant which is an edible icing. Look online for some ideas and instructions. You'd be surprised how real fondant ribbons look!

Any silky ribbon should work. You also might like the look of strands of pearls on your cake. All of these can be found wherever craft items are sold.....Michaels, Hobby Lobby, Wal Mart....LOTS of places. It doesn't have to be a special baker place.....unless you want edible ribbon.

When you make your cake tell tell the person who is making the cake that you want a ribbon around it and tell them if it's going to be eatten or a lace one, and go from there becasue once you tell the person what you want on teh cake they will put on it and they will go out of their way to find whatever you want on it
