he eats pretty much anything soft and can eat breads and toasts, i'm running out of dinners for him, I want to give him a variety other than mac and cheese and all the gerber toddler trays, does anyone have any healthy ideas for that age that i could make along with my dinner instead of wasting money on repetitive gerber meals? He LOVES everything I havent found any food he doesnt like and is allergic to so any answers are good ones.

At that age feed him some of the same things U eat. Mashed potatoes with H.B meat in it would be good& easy for both of you. As you know if it's cut up small enough he will have no problem. The more healthy foods he eats now the less picky he will be later. Hope this helped & good luck.

Check the nutritional info on those gerber trays, not only are they expensive but they are mostly salt.

Give him what you eat. My 9.5mo old eats what I do- just eat good foods, chicken, fish, lean beef.

Kids love eggs and cheese. Look over the food pyramid and plan to offer him everything he needs, fresh fruits and veggies especially.

With my oldest I bought a tray- like you would have in school with the little spaces for different foods. I would fill each space up with a different item, it had 6 spaces so I would have (for example)

corn
greenbeans
applesauce
chicken
roll or bread
100% juicebox or milk

Well my little girl loves to eat rice. I am not sure how you feel about red meat but you can try some ground beef. Just make sure you break it up as good as you can with a little rice he will love. I know how you feel about those little gerber trays. It was just something about give my little girl a tv dinner that worried me LOL.

I have never purchased "ready to eat" meals for either of my kids. When they were that age (they're 2.5 and 3.5 now) I would boil chicken with some rice, or with a few carrots and potatoes. I'd chop it up for them, and they really enjoyed it. The leftovers freeze nicely in separate containers for later. Baked potatoes with a little butter and sour cream, grits with some cheese and a sprinkle of salt, *fresh* green beans boiled for a couple hours with some bacon fat or ham fat in the water.......the list goes on and on!

I'm not sure if you have the time for home cooking. I always have, and when I didn't have extra time, I'd feed them what I had pre-frozen....

You should be able to mash most things you eat with a fork and knife enough for baby to "gum" up. The only thing I would caution until more molars come in are things that you really need to chew well, like peices of steak, some fruits, etc.

I would begin the transition to regular table foods. Start with soft solids and then work into foods with more texture. Eventually as the teeth continue to come in he will be able to handle anything.

This is so simple. Give him what you are having for dinner. Just mash it or chop it up small for him. Or, if you have a blender, you can make your own kiddie meals for him with whatever you have left if it makes you feel better being in that form.

I would recommend getting the book 'Feed me, I'm Yours'

I had that book when my daughter was younger and it has GREAT dinner ideas for toddlers and infants.
