While lots of people are selling this one, it looks like it is not all that scientific. "One phony diet describes a three-day or seven-day menu, supposedly prescribed by the American Heart Association or by the "Heart Association." It includes vanilla ice cream, hot dogs, eggs and cheddar cheese. The diet promises a 10-pound weight loss in three days. These bogus diets have been cited as the Spokane Heart Diet, the Cleveland Clinic Diet, Sacred Heart Memorial Hospital Diet and the Miami Heart Institute Diet. The poorly typed and photocopied phony diet has also been offered by mail for $2 per copy."

My answer is not a positive opinion to the diet...since, I hold a very strong and differing opinion in regard to weight loss. That said, You would be able to minus the meat from the diet...but you should replace the meat with the same amount of protein...and the right combinations of vegetable protein that is needed to supply you with the correct amount of amino acid that the meat would provide. You should be able to loose the same. This is a very unhealthy way to loose weight. Loosing weight this quickly is not conducive to successful weight loss (keeping it off) and my sister tried this diet and it drove her nuts because it was very mundane.

I do wish you luck in your weight loss endeavor!!

Be careful of any diet like that. You can lose weight on just about any of them, but they typically aren't designed for (or healthy) to stay on long term. Once you get off the diet, if you haven't learned to eat in a healthy and well-balanced way, you'll tend to put the pounds right back on.

The best way to lose weight is make a lifestyle change and stick with it. Eat well and exercise regularly....something you can and should do for the rest of your life.
