Your cat is scratching because the scabs are still bothering him. You can get nailcaps and cover the claws he uses to scratch so the tips will be blunt and he won't hurt himself. Beyond that, I don't know what to tell you. Maybe he could use a bath with an oatmeal conditioner to soothe his skin.

This sounds like a classic mite problem, and mites often do infect cats who've had flea problems. Although your tuxedo cat is having the bigger problem, you'll want to treat them both. Fortunately, it's not difficult. First, put a few drops of mineral oil in each ear and massage in. When the debris comes to the surface, wipe it out gently with a cotton ball. Don't use a cotton swab - cats' ear drums are incredibly easy to puncture! Once the ears are cleaned out, keep them clean using a pyrethrin- based mite repellant from the pet store in the ears and by using your preferred method of flea control all over (it will also help control the mites). It would be a good idea to wash their bedding with hot water and gentle detergent to reduce the chance of reinfection. Good luck!

Ciao!
This same thing happens to my dog sometimes.
My dog started to scratch in different places and create bald spots, just like your cat is doing. My dog has never had any problems with fleas (she has always taken things to reduce these fleas). I took her to the vet and they gave me extra medication for my dog to use. You may need to do what I did... Don't worry about buying those flea aids at the store or anything, get the vet to look it over, they will give you the best thing for your dog to use.
Good Luck,
Kenya

wash kitty with an anti -itch shampoo for kitties and amke sure the fleas are really dead. sometimes they do not die. advantage is the only flea remedy i have seen work--and i tried them ALL on my kitten.also check for worms --tapeworms are transmitted to kitty by chewing fleas. also make sure kitty is eating food with some oils in --so kitties fur becomes soft again. some kitties are allergic to some of the fillers in the cat food--make sure there are no fillers in the cat food--cornstarch, corn, rice, wheat gluten etc are all fillers.
make sure there is lots of water available to kitty and that kitty is actually drinking it!----
god luck. if this does not work, call yuor vet--maybe, as they know yor kitty better than i do, they will be able to further ssist you, should this plan not work.
good luck. have fun with kitty

What did you treat him with? If its from the vet it will work, however its a common misconception that the fleas LIVE on your cat, they just work there. You need to treat your furniture and rugs, vacume frequently (even the tile floors for dust bunnies) If you used a storebrand (especially HARTZ), its not working.

Call your or any vet and ask if its okay to put neosporin on the bites to heal and prevent infection.

Ok, my dog does this too-
I got this stuff from PET SMART- called HOT SPOT it is a spray, and it helps them not to be itchy there and will make them stop scratching.. and the hair will grow back..... be careful with cats... it has tea tree oil in it, and is deadly to cats, so only put it in places that she cannot lick.

Are you sure this isn't caused by ringworm. This would irritate your cat immensely. Perhaps you should check with a vet.

take him to the vet. Could be a nervous habit and he will never get better. Ask your vet if you can give him Benadryl.

He needs something to stop the itch. See if the vet can make a suggestion.

Good luck!
