I have 2. One is a long furred and the other a short hair. They are very loyal, loving & smart. The short hair is almost 3 years old and I got her at 8 weeks old. I had her paper trained within 48 hours. And she has been able to get me to laugh almost everyday. They are both very good looking dogs and always draw attention from people including children when I take them out in public. They are very low maintenance, smart and fun.

Also, anybody who doesn't like Chihuahua's has never really spent any time with them. My brother wasn't fond of them until he spent some time with mine and then changed his mind. Me, I love dogs and cats, I just prefer Chihuahuas.

My question asks for Chihuahua dog lovers not HATERS. Why do some of you ignorant people insist on answering such questions? You do it on many other sites too. You can stick your negative attitudes & comments about everything up your a$ses!!!!!!

I have to admit, I never in a million years would have thought I'd like these dogs. My experience had always been hearing my mother say these were horrible bossy yappy high strung ill tempered little things - FLASH FORWARD to fall 2006.

I adopted a dog that a friend found stray - a little Westie/JRT mix. She was the picture perfect dog as long as she could be by my side every waking moment - work, store, car, park, everywhere. My boss finally had enough and told me to come up with a gameplan. My daughter had also had enough (she was jealous) and asked if she could get a purse dog (she's 16 and idolizes Paris Hilton - gag). My gameplan included adopting another dog to help my dog with her seperation anxiety while I was working. So I went on my lunch hour down to the pound and found Foxy, a Chi/It Greyhound x. Her paperwork was NOT marked available but rather 'review'. I asked about her and she was available. She met my dog on the grounds of the pound -- and they got along swimmingly. Previous to that I asked to have a boy introduced.. and my Westie was not pleased.. having none of that.

Long story short, we ADORE Foxy. My mother is in LOVE with that dog like nobody's business.

Here's Foxy's Dogster website if you want to see some pics -- http://www.dogster.com/pet_page.php?i=418115

Oh yes, and I failed to mention - our pets include 3 cats, 2 snakes & 2 dogs. You can see them all (except the snakes) under the family section of that website!

As much as I love all dogs, I have 5 Chihuahuas, and I would never own another breed. I think Chihuahuas get a bad rap from some people, thinking they are nothing but yappy llittle ankle biters. Anyone who owns a Chihuahua knows that's not true. Chihuahuas are the most loving, loyal, smart, protective, great little watch dogs, funny, cute, low maintenance, and you can take them with you, almost anywhere you go. Another thing, I think is cute about Chihuahuas , is that they don't know how small they are , they think they are big Great Danes.

Hi there.
I have found that it all depends on the dog..or cat or what have you. Personally I love most animals. But that does not mean all of them. I was invited onto a ladys property and then promptly bit by her 'Protective' St Bernard. Yeah right! It really depends on the owner. What you train your pet will be more than likely the way the pet will turn out. Just like kids.

-seems there are a lot of chihuahua lovers out there. l have one. and she is 17 yrs old. but l do not think l will get any more. not because they are labeled nasty or yappy or what ever, mine is and always have been too overly friendly. l can't bear the thought that any chihuahua might win my heart over and it may not be as smart as she is. she is a seizure alert dog. which is a little un -common in that breed.

Chihuahuas are the very best dog of any kind anywhere! Like you said, a lot of people think they don't like chihuahuas, but after they own one, they wonder why it took them so long to get one. I love them with all my heart!

I love them! Everybody in my family at first said they had big heads bulging eyes a yappy barks. Most chihuahuas habe been bred to have none of those, and the long haired ones are very nice to be with. They are extrememly intelligent and I could reccomend them to anybody!

Many men with small ***** or masculine issues prefer large dogs to compensate for that deviancy. I love all types of dogs but Chihuahua dogs are my favorite because they are smart, loyal and affectionate. They are small dogs with huge hearts.

My son is Daddy to two Chihuahua's and they are cute little dogs. One of their favorite games is howl for Grandma. My son lives across the street and he has a very large picture window. The dogs love to sit on the back of the sofa& look out the window. When they see me come out of my house they start to howl LOL. They also like to dance with Grandma. It has to be old time rock'n'roll. They wont dance to any other kind of music. They stand up on their little hind legs and turn around in circles they are just to darn cute. They even let my granddaughter put doll clothes on them and let her walk around the house with them in her doll stroller. They are my cute little granddogs.
