I would continue to drink lots of water or milk, eat a lot of those large fruit bowls sold at Albertsons, and each whole grain wheat bread when you decide to have an actual meal or go out to eat with friends. Try going to www.sparkpeople.com. They have a meal planner and tracker that is PERFECT! The key is not to starve yourself because if you're always thinking about food, there's no way you're going to keep the weight off.

When I went on my big diet, at first I used only packaged foods with the calories per serving listed on the package. They also say servings per container, and if you are not able to easily measure out the amount they call a serving, you can usually estimate one third or one fourth of the package, etc. What you will find, I think, is that the servings they use for their calorie calculations are really rather small. So try sticking to no more than the package suggests, and do write down all your food and its calorie content until you get used to a menu with a moderate number of calories per day: 1,000 to 1,200, depending on how active you are; possibly even less for a few weeks if you are really in a hurry.
Now get yourself a calorie counter book or web site or whatever, and start looking for fresh and all-natural equivalents of those packaged foods. You already know what you like and dislike, and now, since you have been eating it already, you know about what a decent serving size will be. You can substitute a good home-made recipe for the packaged foods once you learn how to make the calculations.
Some cook books also include calories per serving on their recipes.
Using this method, I lasted over two years and lost about 150 lbs., which was basically trimming myself down to half my original size. Unfortunately, that was quite a few years ago, and all that was lost has found me again.
So it goes.

Yeah, the grapefruit diet isn't really good for you.
If you want to eat small portions, try eating 5-6 small meals throughout the day. I guarantee you will never be hungry and you will lose weight. Here's a sample plan:
8:00 - breakfast, whole wheat toast with a little peanut butter; glass of oj
10:00 - banana and handfull of almonds
12: lean cuisine meal, salad, or tuna sandwich with light mayo on whole wheat
3: fruit
5: dinner - chicken breast with veggies, egg wrap on a whole wheat tortilla, or a weight watchers meal
7-8: light snack, like yogurt or light cottage cheese or low-sugar oatmeal.
I hope this helps. Good luck!
