My bird finds a quiet place about dusk then after a short nap comes out to play some more. I try to be consistent with his bed time and cage him about 9pm then it is the first thing I do in the morning is take the cover from his cage at 7am. This seems to be good for my bird and I have found that often if I am busy at 9pm he starts being a pest and then flies super fast past me and goes to his cage and sits on the door. If that doesn't get my attention he will do it again and squawk loudly at me. I think he likes the set schedule so find the schedule that works for the two of you and stick to it. Good luck

The budgies I've had will usually "crash-out" just around sun down, just like the wild birds. Go ahead and cover the cage then. Uncover the cage when you get up in the morning, or when daylight breaks. Good luck.

I don't generally go to bed until 11:30 or 12, but the budgie goes to bed before that. I try and put his cover on around 11; and he usually wakes up about 9-10 o'clock, depending on what time I drag myself out of bed.

On Wenesdays, Tuesdays and Saturdays, he goes to bed at 10:00.
He wakes up anywhere from 7:30-9:00.

They don't have to keep a direct schedule, they just have to get adequate sleep each night.
