Why would my dog, who likes baths, try to bite me if I ask anyone?

else, human or pet, if they want a bath? It makes him crazy when I ask that question!

Thanks for your responses. They're great. I never thought of it as him being jealous about "bath-bath", but he is a little possesive sometimes. : )

one word Jealousy. He likes the baths and hates it when you ask anyone else for a bath. To him the bath is bonding time. He loves baths and you. He doesn't want anyone else to bond over the bath with you.

I suggest you think of another word for bath, like does anybody want a shower.

I agree that he associates bath with special time with you and when he hears you use that word to any one else human or pet he is jealous. and doesn't want to share his special time with you!Try not to say these words around him unless he is the one getting the bath.

Put him in a crate when bath time comes around and bathe the other dogs. Pack leaders do not ask for permission, they JUST DO. And please, do not put your dog in a headlock as someone suggested, you will only get bitten if you are not the established alpha dog in the house.

he thinks you are favoring someone else instead of him, bath is his special time and he doesn't want anyone else to have fun

He's insecure. He thinks you are going to kill him. Calm him down, talk to him, all that stuff. Push him away if he tries to bite. Do a gentle headlock so he doesn't bite. Hope that helps. I have 3 dogs and I know what you mean.

if he loves his bath and enjoy it. that is a special thing that bonds him to you and he is jealous that you would not bond to him. jealously is what that is.
