Happy New Years to all! I am thinking about trying to fast at least a week. I have read somethings on the web. I thought you didn't eat until sundown is that correct or do you not eat at all?? Please give me any tips/rules/advice on fasting, Thanks!

The reason for my fasting is a little bit of weight loss and a little bit of cleansing.

Fasting is the best way to prevent Cancer. However if you work while on the fast,you can drink juices. This will supply the vitamins you need. Just stop solid foods.

Well..I'm not sure what type of fasting you read about but in Islam we fast for a month from sundown till sunset..that is the normal practice and great for weightloss and cleansing of the system. So basically u eat before sunrise.have a good meal and then dont eat ANYTHING (not even water) until sunset...

But just plain water fasting can be dangerous. Good Luck!

I wouldn't do that if I were you, because people have to eat 6 small meals a day to keep your metabolism up, plus if you were to do this fasting thing, once you did start eating or started eating more after you lost the weight you wanted, then your metabolism would drop low, and you would gain all the weight back and then some. if you want to lose weight, just do it the old fashioned way. drink lots of water, and eat more fruits and veggies, and exercise. thats the only way to lose weight the healthy way.

Instead of that try a clear liquid diet like you have after surgery.

Drink water, broth, tea, and apple juice. Take a multivitamin supplement. You will lose weight and cleanse without a lack of nutrition.

If you're doing it to lose weight, it will mess up your metabolism and make you gain as soon as it's over.
If you're doing it for spiritual or religious reasons, try having at least something after sundown just so you don't end up in the hospital or anything.

we muslims fast from sunrise to sunset....u must eat before sunrise, i suggest something filling as oatmeal or some type of sandwich along with alot of water and maybe some fruit as well....throughout the day you will not eat or drink until sunset...then u can have whatever u like....just be sure to drink plenty of fluids as water so you do not get dehydrated as well as fruits and veggies to keep regular......wish you the best!!!

Don't do it. It's not healthy and we are not designed to go without food. For cleansing, drink alot of water and eat alot organic veggies.

The best tip about fasting is...DON'T DO IT! It messes up your metabolism and will make you actually gain weight once you are done. Try just eating normal foods in moderation. Or...try Atkins.

i think you shud go for it. if its all natural no illegal drugs involved then whuy not. treat your self to something new and if you like the tresults well than thats you. evrybody is different and some home remediess work on them some dont.so if this works for you and your happy you shud consider duin it for longer than just a week

What is the reason for your fast? There is nothing wrong with fasting for spiritual purposes. It is all in what you believe.
