I'd use a little bit extra butter, as oil is all fat, whereas butter is mostly fat, but contains some water too

It depends on what you are making. If you are baking, recipes that call for butter mean butter. Recipes that call for oil mean oil. It has to do with the melting/boiling points of each product. In baking sometimes it is not possible to substitute butter for oil. If you are sauteeing be careful because butter burns much much faster than oil. Peanut oil gets the hottest without burning.

Butter is marked off in tablespoons on the wrapper. Use same amount. May have to soften or melt it. Depends how you are using it. If needed to be liquid, pop in microwave a few seconds.(20-30) If just soft, let sit or microwave 5-10 seconds.

Ok, 8 tablespoons is the answer but if you need a measure, it would be 1/2 cup or 1 cube.
