NOAH is real. We have the NOAH Space Station which is for when, and if the globe is stricken by our ways of living. Parting the red sea? Maybe everyone was on acid, or just a fable. Walking on water? Have you ever seen 3 inches of Clear ice on a pond or lake? Looks identicle as water. Hey, your education taught you the science in the 4th grade. Let it continue to improve and the math will prove yourself that there are NO SUCH GODS in the WORLD. Simply Put. The more you believe the slower your common sense gets. Some of it is surely real, but the fact about MATTER REMAINS TRUE to the SCIENCE. The world is and will always be in a Holly War. Tis meerely an Obsession the world faces. Are you obsessed with God? Do you believe he thinks it just peachy we fight and kill one another for Resources and Land? Yeah, Yeah, I know.... We are in control of our own Fate. HA HA Thats always the Answer. No God. The church is good for feeding poor folks all around the world and that is GREAT, but remember this: RELIGION and STATE weren't conjoined for a reason. And they knew it by the Science and Maths proven by our ALMIGHTY GREAT Scientist and Mathamatitions. Keep up the good work, you can't be Smart Enough now a days. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER.
Happy New Year.

It depends on whom you ask. If you ask an atheist, they'll tell you that Bible stories are myth. If you ask a Christian, they'll probably tell you that the original text of the Bible is the word of God, and as such is true. Most of the outrageous stories in the Bible are brought about by miracles from God, which means that no amount of education (apart from the wisdom of an open mind) will be able to convince you of their being true. That's why Christianity is a faith. That being said, there have been some interesting studies done which demonstrate how some Biblical stories may have come about. Try Googling "Science and the Bible"
Like one of the other answers said, look at the entire picture. The most fundamental thing to ask yourself is this: do you believe in the Christian God? If you do, as I do, then it's not hard to imagine how miraculous occurrences came about. If you choose not to, then you're stuck wondering 'why?'.

Well, I'm sure those are embellished tales... maybe with some basis in an actual event, but chances are that Noah did not have an Ark and filled it with ALL of the animals of the world (more likely a family got stuck in a flood with their own livestock and survived where neighbors didn't). As for anything in the Bible being fact... sure... King David was an actual person. So was Solomon. The wars talked about did happen (though I seriously doubt that God Told any of them to wipe out all of their neighbors).
Look at how, just in recent history, things get twisted. Most everyone will tell you that Hitler came up with the idea of the Concentration Camps and killing all of those people in ovens. Which isn't exactly true... he gave the OK for it to happen, but it was Himmler who came up with the idea.
Also look at how Bush claimed that God told him to go to war in Iraq. Only those who really like Bush will agree with that statement. The rest of us are wondering what's wrong with this picture. *wink* But I'm sure in 20 yrs time, someone is going to write a book about how God told Bush to wipe out all the Terrorists. And if he fails, it will be because Bush did something God didn't like and therefore punished the rest of us because of it.
It's easy to see how ancient people made claims, wrote about it later (after a few centuries of oral tradition) and it suddenly being some spectacular event with absolutely no evidence for such things. Why anyone would place 100% of their faith in primitive writings and claim it to be 100% true is beyond me.

Some of the physical location are factual as we know from archeology. Some religious people make the leap from that to saying well if the place really exists then the events recorded to have taken place in them must have happened as well. This is a leap I am not prepared to take. There has been quite a bit of scholarship on the historical accuracy of the Bible. I think there is room for many doubts on just how historically accurate many parts of it are based on this scholarship. To do a discussion justice would take several paragraphs. I will recommend readings if you are really motivated.

You really have to look at the time periods this was taking place. Times when fire breathing dragons were thought to be real, giants roaming the earth and the list goes one. I think in its time it was thought to be fact I mean the world was flat in there eyes, its just now with modern logic it just sounds like great mythology book on how people lacked knowledge of there surroundings. Also a book back then was all they had of an event taking place, so they basically believed all in which they read because no one was there to question it.

If you are indeed a fairly educated person then why not research the facts for yourself? The Bible is a wealth of historical fact, prophecy, and wisdom. You should spead more time reading it for yourself then researching the information and asking God to reveal what's true rather than listening to other people's opinions or taking everything you hear in church at face value. Come on, be a radical and think for yourself... why let others do your thinking for you!

the point of religions are facts that are true and also faith. a person has to have faith in the details mentioned in the religion. our minds are limited compared with god's knowledge.
we cannot really determine what is true and what is not because large parts of the bible have been changed by man. how can people follow a book/religion that is now so changed. the bible no longer acts as jesus's words but people's words.
the bible was written 80 or so (don't know exact figure) years after christ's death. therefore we cannot say that it is purely jesus's or god's words. many of the stories are factual. the only text that is known to be unchanged is the quraan.

This would be totally based off of a persons interpretation of the Bible. Many believe the Bible to be exact recounts of events in history. Some, like me, believe them to be more exaggerated stories meant to teach ideals and life lessons. More importantly then if they are facts or not is if you get the true teachings from the stories. Just because you don't believe the stories in the Bible aren't fact shouldn't make you any better or worse of a person/Christian etc. Just as long as you can take the teachings from the stories and apply them in your daily life.

Its fact. Its fact when proverbs states not to follow a fool in his work. Its fact when the human race has to be destroyed because of its misery to itself and an ark be built to start over. Its fact when God has to part the sea so the Israelites have to escape a vicious enemy. Don't just look at the act, but the full scope. Whats parting a sea to a being that created balck holes?

Some educated people also believe these things in the Bible. Your question assumes that educated people couldn't believe in what the Bible asserts. On the contrary, truly "educated", or intellegent people aren't constricted in their beliefs by the "known". The wisest man realizes the immense body of knowledge he hasn't attained. As a Christian, I think it's ok to question the Bible, I did... I just believe God will supply the answer if you are open to the possibilities.
