That's the only alternative that makes any sense.

Even if it were possible to remove that many illegals, it would cost, at minimum, 200 billion dollars, in addition to the lost tax revenue and the collapse of businesses that would happen with the removal of many millions of taxpayers from the country.

Additionally, the social costs would be staggering. For one thing the U.S. would be left with a very large constituency of legal latino immigrants, most of whom would be horribly effected by the break-up of family and community. This single effect would create social divisions that would take generations to heal, and for that period there would be no end of conflict surfacing in countless different forms.

Amnesty is the only viable alternative. Anything else will create many more problems, and far worse problems, than will be resolved.

The U.S. government will NOT make any serious attempt to rid the country of 13 million illegals. The price is just too high.

Regarding amnesty. We've been there and done that! Since the 1950s our population has doubled... it went from 150 million to 300 million. If this happens again, this fast, then we will not have the resources (THINK WATER) to accommodate all our residents. Everyone wants to come to the United States because it is a free, capitalistic country in which, if one works hard, he/she can be successful and "live the good life". Unfortunately, if we "over populate" the country then we too will become a "third world country". So, it's sort of a "Catch-22" situation. Therefore, as harsh as it may seem, we must get control of our borders now in order to save our country for the future.

Why not .Is there some reason being born here has some kind of privilege others should not enjoy . There would be no room for them if all the jobs were filled by American workers . Since greed rules then we will have people coming here and jobs going there until the standard of living in the world is balanced .
I myself would like to enjoy some cheap labor and the chance to build a kingdom of my own .A few shell companies to hide my profits under and in a few more years I can retire on an Island stock it with everything I want and ring it with a mine field to keep others out Including the law . See I like drugs and booze and running naked and that upsets the right wing policy makers . Well son I will have enough and be free at last from American morality greed and slavery . Great place to make a few million and get out if you can .

Don't worry, that will never happen. How would corporations be able to exploit the illegals? How would companies then be able to pass the cost associated with slave labor to taxpayers? Amnesty is not going to happen. There is too much corruption and money involved. Corporations would have to go on the books and pay minimum wage. Illegal aliens would have to pay their medical expenses. The illegals would no longer be able to work a job under the table and still collect welfare because they would be caught. Taxpayers have been footing the bill for these people for years paying for everything. Businesses won't let the golden goose get away. Who would they exploit? How would they steal taxpayer money?

No illegals should not be given amnesty!! They are breaking laws by being here illegal and therefore should not be given amnesty!! This is not being racist, it is protecting America from being taken over by illegals!!

If illegals want to live and work in the US, then they need to learn to speak English, adapt to the American way of life and become US Citizens like the millions of other immigrants who came to the US did!!

No, not now, not ever. We are fighting a war at home with these illegals, and we should be using military force to eject them. Iraq has never been an immediate threat to the US, but Mexico is clearly dragging us down. I agree with the statement above that Annexing Mexico would not be a bad idea. However, it's not going to happen. Our best bet is to build a wall, fortify it with troops, and shoot anyone that approaches from the South Side. This will stop it. I just wish our President, worthy of being hanged, would just use common sense in this matter. Amnesty is the easy way out for him. Oh and by the way, thank you America, for electing the biggest jack-*** in the history of the Presidency.
Also, if they are awarded amnesty, I will certainly renounce my citizenship, so that I can recieve the benefits that they certainly will receive from our Government. As of now, illegals have many more rights than do citizens.

yes , the undocumented should be given an amnsety the last years the only thing that had proved is that they are so neccesarry in the American society . i do not undersantand why people keep making generalizations and why do they keep trying to keep Mexicans down with all their BS .

when i see the immigrants all i see is people who want to work , want a better life and want to get it by working . it is not fair than just for a few who do not deserve to be here and are harmful to the entire human race all other who are not that way are blamed .

if we allow this to continue to happen all we are doing is an ireverisble damage to our society , so i say stop making racist generalizations and accept those who been out of troubles as new citizens of this beautiful country .

No.

We should not reward people who break the law. Amnesty didn't work in the 80's. We have an even bigger illegal alien problem now.

they could get no amnesty in any respect .It does'nt remember in the event that they're individuals of a gang or not. They broke the regulation and could be deported. besides might'nt that help strengthen our neighborhoods if the gangs have been deported and made the voters there happier?

Absolutely not. This action would cause America to be a country without borders, condone foreigners breaking of our laws, and cause massive new illegal immigration. Common sense, which our politicians don't seem to have, is that we must enforce our current immigration laws and secure our boders, instead of pretending we need new laws. The politicians and special interest groups (Employers seeking cheap labor) are so pretentious that they claim Americans want to give the amnesty. That is a blatant lie.
