Mohammed Ali. To have the Courage to resist fighting for something he did not beleive in go to prison and then went back to his roots came back and dominated, the movie with Will Smith was the bets boxing movie I seen I heard George Foreman said it was Lennox Lewis but any guy whos dumb enough to smile and let his guard down, get his *** knocked out and lose hit title aint the best. I heard Marciano was good but I can knockout tomato cans too LMAO. The modern Rocky movie, was ridiculously fake in that a boxer who got to the top is not not going to train for an opponenet who was an already 1 in a million shot against Apollo...I know in the movie Rocky put up a good fight but if this were today...the champ would be in top shape, any champ is and it would be over in the first few rounds. There is overconfidence that comes with 'getting back in shape" but what if your oppoenent is already in top shape finds out hes gonna fight you and then gets in even better shape.

SUGAR RAY ROBINSON

EDIT: I WONDER WHEN PEOPLE CALL ALI A DRAFT DODGER IF THEY KNOW THE DIFFERENCE REFUSING MILITARY INDUCTION BY FIGHTING IT LEGALLY OR EVADING THE DRAFT AND LEAVING THE COUNTRY.

I think Ali is a pretty good bet. The only other I would say is Sugar Ray Robinson. Lennox was not consistant enough and Marciano probably isn't in my top five. Ali was too fast and too strong. His chin was a lot better than people thought. He would find a way to win against almost anyone.

Go a little further back. In my opinion James J. Braddock (The Cinderella Man) was the greatest. He started off as a great boxer who was never knocked out but his career took a turn for the worse when he broke his hand. He struggled to support his family during the Great Depression by working on the docks. He was given a second chance to fight a highly popular boxer at the time named John "Corn" Griffin. It was expected that Braddock would lose but instead made one of the biggest upsets in sports history at the time. Following that fight he recieved another challenge from John Henry Lewis, who ended up becoming a light heavyweight champion. Braddock pulled off one of the biggest wins of his career fighting Lewis and then another major win came after defeating Art Lasky. It was then Braddock was given a chance to fight against the World Heavyweight Champion Max Baer. Braddock took some hard hits but kept coming and eventually wore the champ down. In the end Braddock won by a unanimous decision from the judges. James's next fight came from the boxer Joe Louis. Braddock knocked Louis down in the first round but Louis came back to win the match. Louis was recorded saying Braddock was "The most courageous fighter I ever fought." Braddock's last fight was against Tommy Farr. Braddock was victorious in a major come-from-behind fight.
After the fight with Farr, Braddock retired and then served honorably in World War II

Say it with me now. MUhammad. The man does not have the letter O in his name.
People who have a clue about boxing and its history will say, for the most part, Sugar Ray Robinson.
What roots are you talking about Ali going back to? And a hell of a lot of boxers went to prison and then fought on.
