Check and make sure it is not lice. You can see them crawling. I doubt it if you have already been to the VET. Its on its mind so you have to distract it and make it think about something else. Another thing, some birds will start to pull feathers and do other things to themselves if they feel bad. Depressed. So you need to play with it and talk to it. I like to leave a radio or TV playing. I don't know what kind of bird you have but the bigger the bird the more attention they need. Unless they have a mate. I hope this will help. Good luck.

Hi there !!! I have two birds, an african Grey congo and a Quaker parrot. They have been with me for so many years already, I had them since a baby with no feathers.

Birds are very sensitive and intelligent creatures. Your bird maybe going through stress. Has anything changed in his enviroment?

You could place toys in his cage that he likes, talk to him softly every day.

Check his diet is balanced and ok, with fresh water always.

Avian Vets can give your bird anti-anxiety medicine ( just like for humans) if everything else fails.

I also once saw a gadget that you get and place around the birds neck so he can not peck at his back.

I pray that you can resolve this for your peace of mind and the peace of mind of your bird.

Best of luck
Love light and peace

Maybe he's lonely. Do you have any other birds? Do things in the house stress him out? Is he alone a lot?

I had a parakeet that did this - he stopped when I added a mirror and a couple of toys to the cage. Here's a web site with good info:

you can put a little collar around him, kind of what the vets put on dogs when they don't want them to touch spots,.sort of cone like smaller part being around the birds neck... probably make it out of cardboard--just leave enough slack in the collar so it can eat and drink ok
