If you have time you should cook for your dog. They love it and you can control better what your dog is eating and elminiate the dyes and toxins. Try this recipe....my dogs can get enough and you can find tons more recipes on the net.
1 lb liver
3/4 teaspoon Garlic Powder (do not substitute Onion Powder)
2 eggs or (egg substitute)
1 1/2 Cups WW flour
1/2 Cup corn meal
1 TBSP brewers yeast
Mix all except flour in food processor until smooth. Add flour a little at a time, batter is pourable but very thick. Spread into a greased 8X8 pan. Bake until dry about 35 minutes at 350F.

Do a Google search on BARF and RAW which are both home-prepared meals for your dog. There are several differences between these diets, so you will want to look around before you make a final decision on which might work for you.
You may also want to join one of the Yahoo groups on raw feeding as there are lots of people there that can give you help getting started.
If you home prepare food for your dog you will want to research carefully so that you know the right percentages of bone/meat/organ/etc to give to keep a healthy balance.
Many people feel that feeding raw is preferable to cooking for your dog as it does not kill the enzymes. Many people agree that a well-balanced home-prepared meal is better for dogs than kibble diets- especially supermarket kibbles. Below are some helpful websites that tell more about feeding home-prepared and the benefits of doing so.

Definitely yes, however dog's diets are not like human's diets. do some research to find out what and how to cook for Rover. Google would probably be a good place to start, and there are probably books on Amazon. Cooking for a pet requires a lot of careful work. Good luck, and have fun. PeeTee

Yes u can my Yorkie always gets her dog food and of course home coked food.Just make sure u go on line and print out a list of foods that are good for your dog some can be very dangerous and kill your dog. some foods u can't feed ur dog are grapes and turkey they have been known to kill dogs. Other then that cook away I say it's best. Also there are recipes on line too u may want to try that out.

what are you cooking? Not people food I hope! My mom would cook for the dogs on the farm, she made home made dog food with only good stuff for dogs in it, she did the research and learned how to do it. People food is bad, it can rot teeth, cause health problems and will shorten the dogs life, don't agree with me??? Ask your vet I for one know of many people fed dogs alive and gone, most have some form of related health issue!

What a silly question of course you can cook for your dog, i have a doberman who likes nothing more than a piece of rare beef or chicken, fish ,even vegetables, rice pasta, do not put seasoning or additional fats though, dogs enjoy a treat now and again from the monotony of eating dry foods

Yes, and in-fact if your dog is diabetic it is probably a good idea. That way you will know for sure what is in it. I'm sure your vet can give you the best ideas of what to cook and how often to feed it. Good Luck.

Yes.
But why.
It is lot cheaper and less time consuming to feed him what he is eating and used to eating now.
Again he may not eat your cooked stuff for a while till he is very hungry. Balance meal may be another problem.
Our dog was eating mainly left overs(as snack) and plain rice(cooked) and milk(warm).
We were always feeding him from table also.

My Maltese eats a lot of what we eat, loves chicken breasts.
A dog show owner told me she gives her dogs rice and chicken.
When I grew up in Europe , dog food had not been invented there yet and our dogs ate what my mother cooked and believe me during ww2 we did not have meat to give them. They ate a lot of the cooked peels from potatoes.
