This is a very open ended question, but i feel myself always getting the bottom end of the stick when it comes to what a girl wants. I am a great guy, girls always tell me how sweet and caring i am and how any girl would be lucky to have me.... Well then why is it alot of girls go for the jerks?
I herd it is because they want to have someone who they feel is in control, but usually only jerks can do that... I dont know that is just a thought. But it really does suck to have girls string you along and then date this guy who they always whine about but wont dump for a better guy...

Hate to be a bit pessimistic, but many never "outgrow" it... I still get the same thing in my mid 30s.
Instead of the emphasis being on the person inside (where all those nice and sweet qualities are) they only take the time to get to know guys that are what they want on the outside as far as attractiveness goes. Then it becomes a matter of what they are truly looking for. Many say it's the nice guy that will like them for them, but in reality they want the "bad boy" or "macho" type... which of course means they won't be sensitive, caring, etc.
Another factor is when women want to be passive... they want the guy to approach them, initiate things, etc... and the women who want to play games such as hard to get. The nice guys who are sensitive, shy, take rejection hard aren't the ones approaching women out of the blue nor continuing to pursue them when the woman says she isn't interested. Women will say they want someone forceful, yet don't make the connection that by doing so, the guy isn't being sensitive, and doesn't have a lot tied into his interest.
So most of the time it ends up being the women complaining about the men they are with being jerks to them, but yet it's their choice to be with them. You get what you look for. If it's driven by looks, money, etc... that's all they'll get. The nice guys are the ones relegated to "the nice sweet friend" that they can go to for advice and support in dealing with the insensitive jerk boyfriend.
There are nice women and men out there, but they are the exception to the rule, and thus rarer to come across.

I don't think that's the reason. I think all guys are sweet at first and it's not untill later on down the read that you find out how they really are. By then you already are in love with them or have kids with them and you are stuck.

most girls (particularly high school girls) go for the jerks for "cool" points.
one can only hope that they will eventually get over this by discovering at some point that there really IS no such thing as "cool".

Well, girls go for the fun guys when they only want to date. They look for the husband materail (you) later on in lifewhen they want to settle down. Don'y worry you will get your own.
