When you drink cold water afterwards, a greater amount of heat energy is lost in the mouth due to the vasodilation, hence it feels much colder

Your mouth has been moving rapidly chewing which makes it hotter - this makes the water feel colder.

i don't think it is i just think it's because it feels like it!
especially after mint gum it's kinda like don't drink water after eating a pimento or chilli cos it makes ur mouth burn a whole lot more!

Chewing gum contains menthol which is a natural antiseptic and anaesthetic, so when water is added it feels cold.

It's the menthol in the mint flavouring that causes it.
