YOU PEOPLE MAKE ME LAUGH!!! JESUS IS NOT GOD IN ANY SENSE!! HE IS THE SON OF GOD. why would jesus be praying to himself all those times in the bible?(matt. 26:39)(john 8:17,18) READ THESE!!! God is not a man...The bible clearly states that 'No man can see my face and yet live.' Before you argue this in any way....LOOK IT UP!

Jesus also refers to Himself as "The Son of Man" not "The Son of God" although He does say "My Father". It is only when He asks His Apostles "Who do you say that I am?" That Peter reveals that Jesus is the Son of God and Jesus tells them to keep it quiet. It is also curious that if God is one then why indeed is Jesus referred to as "Son" making it appear that He is under the Father. This is my take on it. In John it states "In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and was God" The Word refers to Jesus. "All things were made by Him and without Him no things were made that were made" (A bit of a loop but it basically states that God, although one being has different personnas) God the Creator, the Word and the Spirit of God. Jesus is the Word. The Word became flesh. Although the Creator, the Word and the spirit are one, there was first the creator and to denote that and since the Bible was written in simpler times when not much was understood the Creator became known as Father and the Word as Son. When it says "I and My Father are One" It may very well mean one purpose however given my summary above, I believe it means much more than just purpose. I have a body that is me and I also have my words which are also me and a soul which is also me. Although my words and soul are intangeable, it is because I am human and made of flesh. God however, being Creator and not bound by flesh or time can manifest Himself as Word or Spirit or Flesh. Anyway...It's just a theory. Hopefully if I get to Heaven, I'll ask Him what it was all about.

This is a question that I believe each person has to answer for themselves. However, I spent a year in seminary, and I've also studied comparative religions for many years, and I've come to the conclusion that not only are many of the popular beliefs about Jesus and his teachings inaccurate, but the Way that he taught was far more mystical and esoteric than what has come down to us through history as the Christianity that is popularly practiced today.
Why does this matter? Because, to someone teaching an esoteric and mystical Way, saying, "I am the Son of God" has many, many meanings. On one level, Jesus exemplified the Logos, or that role of God as the Word (teacher/creative direction). He was spiritually enlightened, and therefore one and the same as God. The difference, to a mystic, between Jesus and us is that he was not only able to realize his oneness with God, but to LIVE it. We can do the same, but to do it at the level that Jesus did is extremely rare.
I would suggest taking a look at some of the texts that never made it into the Canon (Bible), such as the Gospel of Thomas and the Secret Gospel of John. Remember, there are many, many sacred texts, as well as other Gospels, that were not included when the Bible was put together (by men). Anything that did not support the Church and its ideas of what Christianity should be were not included. Original Christianity included the study of Qabalah (Jewish mysticism) and the doctrine of reincarnation. Christianity is far richer than anyone had previously imagined.

I think one can interpret the Bible in any way they want. I would say that until about 325 AD many people thought they were seperate, until in that year the Catholic church made the Trinity Church doctrine at the Council of Nicea. Personally, I agree with you that they are one in purpose, but seperate beings. There are too many instances when Jesus referred to His Father to others or in prayer. Jesus also asked that we be one with Him and the Father, and I don't take that literally to mean I will morph into being part of them. To each his own though. Either way we should trust in our Savior, Jesus Christ for our salvation.

Yes.
Think of it this way. Are you and your father can be consider as one! can you fill the job or can you represent your father in something? when your dad has debts, who is responsible for them? is not you and your sibling? that is what meant by the Father and I are one. If the Father is God, doesn't make the Son a God as well? Aren't you like your father! Do you see where am I going!
It does mean one purpose, but you have to ask yourself what is that purpose, and keep in mind that the Lord purpose is not measurable by ours.
For those who might disagree with me, you have your right for your beliefs and opinion as I do as well. I believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, which makes him God as well, you don't have to believe as I and many like me do. Live and let Live.
Happy New Year to ALL

Jesus is the man that God endowed with Christ. Christ is the true spiritual idea of God, His Son. Christ has been forever and is ever present right now, although to our senses we can't see Truth, and so human thought denies Christ, until this error is corrected by Truth. God is One, and one with Christ. I and my Father are one is correct. The "I" is Christ, not the seeming mortal body of Jesus.

The God Head is a Holy Trinity made up of three (God the Father, Jesus, the Son of God, and the Holy Spirit). They are one, but they are individual entities; this is difficult for us to comprehend, but it is the Bible's description. God can not look on sin; when man sinned and fell from grace, God sent His Son to be offered up for all mankind, so that He can keep His link with us (after all, He created us). The Holy Spirit is the entity that indwells us when we receive Jesus as our personal Saviour, and is our "communication link" to Jesus and God. When God looks on us after we are saved, he sees His perfect Son (Jesus' blood covers all of our sin). In short, God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are one, but they interact with us with different roles. I hope this helps you to understand.
