My wife's friend's husbamd, whom I have recently been introduced to, seems a bit odd and I don't want to be friends with him. Problem is, he is quite taken with me.
He eats with a toothpick
He collects electrical wire and talks alot about it
He wears children's glasses
He brushes his teeth with dettol
He laughs maniacally when he breaks wind

How do I shake this fool off?

Hi Dicky. Thanks for the roll of three core electrical flex you gave me for Chrimbo but I think I should put the record straight for everyone with regard to your question because you're making up some very unpleasant lies about me.

I only use a toothpick to eat at yours because the portions are so damn small you tight meany.

I don't wear glasses. What you see are the red rings of the straining of my eyes to see the food portions you serve up.

You're wrong about the dettol. I drink it at yours because it's where you hide your whiskey to disguise the fact that you're an alcoholic.

And I only laugh maniacally when I fart because it breaks into your incessant waffling on about my bad habits whenever we meet.

Now I've shown what lies you have told about me, have you seen the new electrical display at B&Q?....they've some really sexy looking two core electrical wire on show and..............

Been here many time. Seems that what we perceive as normal people can hook up with the craziest wacks. Anyway, since this person the husband of your wife's friend, my advise would be to let your wife know that even though you love her, this guy is just to much of a stretch. Let her know that you would prefer that any outings with this friend not involve you. When dealing with the "Wacko", you will either have to be honest and tell him that he's a bit much for you or be very creative with reasons why you can't do any activities with him.

Try to avoid some of the same places he might be and if you have to be in the same place as him, politley excuse yourself saying that you have to discuss an important private matter with someone else there. Good luck.

So then, what do you collect and what do you like to talk about? What do you eat with? Are you sure you don't have any 'funny' habits?

Just by looking at your nick I can tell you're not precisely Mr. Normal.

Be honest. Let your wife know that he makes you uncomfortable & you dont enjoy his company. If you have plans together, maybe invite some other couples, that way you can chit-chat with "normal" men & avoid the weirdo collecting wires.

What is it about you that attracts him to you! He probably sees in you the guy he would like to be. Or perhaps you have a few interesting foibles yourself (like attracts like?). In any case, you yourself sound like an approachable guy. Just be polite when you in his company again, make your excuses when you need to get away. Do that enough times and he'll tire of you.

So he's a bit eccentric. At least he's not a foul mouthed, rude, racist, @sshole hater. In other words, it could be alot worse. Give the guy break, would ya?

ROTFLMAO. Short of spray bottle with Kickup and Bumly's anti git spray in it, I am not sure.
Check Tesco. They may have it in a pest control section.

I would just make excuses and find something else to do when the four of you are to get together. Tell your wife it is fine to be friends with the wife, but don't make plans for the four of you.
