I have a 1 year old shephard mix dog that rubs his nose on the carpet. He does it at least once a night while we're watching tv. He makes a noise like he's blowing his nose and rubs it for about 2 minutes. Why is he doing this? Could he be sick? Could he have an allergy? Any info?

It's not the same area of carpet or even the same room sometimes. He's also done it on the tile floor in the kitchen.

My old dog did this. He had allergies and his nose was itching. Check with the vet.

My lhasa does that too! He gets all into it, making this snuffling sound. It doesn't matter where on the floor. He does it on blankets and throw rugs too.

I think he's just rubbing his face on the carpet, kind of like how sometimes he'll roll around on his back to scratch it.

I'll have to keep an eye on this question to see what answers you get!

Sounds like his nose itches. An allergy would be my first guess, as he does this intermittently, not constantly.

Maybe he likes the smell of the carpet or something you dropped in the carpet
