Traditionally, dogs have been seen as impure, and the Islamic legal tradition has developed several injunctions that warn Muslims against most contact with dogs. Unfortunately, many Muslims have used this view to justify the abuse and neglect of dogs, even though cruelty contradicts the Qur'an's view that all animals form "communities like you."

Listen IGWT Muslims do not eat dogs. People who are part of the religion Islam are called Muslims not Islams. it is not forbidden to have a dog. as many have said they are said to be used as protection and if a dog licks you , you must wash your clothes and clean yourself before praying to God again. that is the same thing after sexual intercourse ( except the clothes part) but it is not forbidden ion Islam, how do ya think i got here?

Well who said dogs are forbidden in Islam?

Dogs are allowed!! yes they are... but the use of the dog is recommended for security matters...

But too much contact with dogs is not recommended [but not forbidden either] as that may cause some sort of diseases and problems....[means sharing your breakfast bowl, or let the dog lick your plates or your new born's face etc]

I love dogs and I am a Muslim. I actually always had a dog, but the dog always had his own shed, his own pot and his own blanket...etc

I hate to say, but some RED-NECKS take the advantage of that kind of innocent questions and try to criticize others' religion without knowledge..if you dont know the sh!t dont put your nose in!! thats why we have question section where people can ask.and clear ...why would half the dozen people answered with no answer, who asked if dog are cool or not!! retarded people....

I hope that will help to clear your mind!

I don't know about islam but, my dog helps me live day to day. Without my service dog my life would be SO much more difficult. So no dogs are not bad for humans but, there are certainly humans bad for dogs.

Well i will ans ur question because i realized from ur words that u r really concerned with islam not like other fanatics whom make fun of us
Well dogs r God creature we don't hate what God made, but its saliva contains a lot highly infectious bacteria i really don't remember its name,
we muslims can breed dogs if we have a garden with our houses for security and to guide blind poeple but not in our houses otherwise i will have to wear gloves when i deal with them

We have mercy with animals, i will tell u 2 stories concerned with that issue our prophet told us about
A jewish prostitute ( in some stories she was a lesbian)was walking once in the desert , she found a thirsty dog wondering around her, so she used her shoe to fill it with water from a well to the dog after she drank, For the compassion she showed to the helpless animal God forgave all her sins and allowed her to go to the heavens
the 2 nd story a woman locked a cat in a room and starved it till death , God sent her to the hell although she may appear as a good woman and muslim
the Christians in tne middle ages burnt the witches with their black cats as they thought they were used in black magic purposes and heresy, they were right to deal with the witches like that , but they should have should some mercy with a helpless animal

we love animals and show mercy with them but not at expense of our health
and in ur readings about islam try to judge us fairly
Merry christmas and happy new year

Could you please give me the source were you got this information from.

As far as Islamic point of view on dogs.

Muslims are discouraged from keeping dogs inside their homes, as the Prophet has been reported as saying that angels do not enter into a house that has a dog4.

However, just because one does not keep a dog inside the home and doesn’t drink after it, that does not give one the right to neglect it, mistreat it, or kill it. The usefulness of this creature of God is indisputable. No other animal can compete with it in its loyalty to its caregiver, its abilities as a guard, and its talent for hunting. In fact, the Qur’an narrates in Surat Al-Kahf, or “The Cave,” the story of some pious youths who took refuge in a cave from the persecution and violence of the unbelievers. That these righteous people had a dog with them, and the fact that Allah mentions the dog and counts the dog among them, indicates that dogs are permitted to live among people. [And you would have thought them awake, whereas they were asleep. And We turned them on their right and on their left sides, and their dog stretching forth his two forelegs at the entrance (of the cave as a guard)] (Al-Kahf 18:18).

In two separate hadiths narrated by Abu Hurayrah (the cat-loving Companion), the Prophet told his Companions of the virtue of saving the life of a dog by giving it water and quenching its thirst: one referred to was a man who was blessed by Allah for giving water to a thirsty dog. The other was a prostitute, who filled her shoe with water and gave it to a dog that was lolling its tongue in thirst. For this deed she was granted the ultimate reward: eternal Paradise.
