My point to clarify my question, is that while some erroneously believe that they are saved because they were immersed. That belief of water baptism saving a person is,

NOT,

TRUE,

Bible scripture.

Water immersion doesn't save souls, belief in Christ the savior does.

Contrary to popular belief, water baptism never saved anybody. Jesus said "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; he that believeth not shall be damned." The baptism that Jesus is talking about is the baptism of the Holy Spirit that come with true belief. Water baptism is a public commitment to a life in Christ. A person must first believe in Jesus before he or she is baptize, else the baptism is meaningless.

Baptism by "water immersion" does not save anyone. Salvation is an act of God in a human life (called the new birth). Baptism is an outward proclamation that a person is dead in Christ, buried, and risen to walk in the newness of life.

Water immersion (or baptism), does not save a person. You are saved when you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Like the person next to Jesus on the cross.

I beg to differ with you. In every case of conversion after the death of Christ, baptism was required in order for one to have his sins washed away. Read the entire book of Acts. Nowhere will you find conversion without baptism. We must be baptized in order to contact the blood. In Galatians 3:27 it says we are baptized into Christ. Salvation is in Christ, not outside, and the only way to get in is to be baptized. Jesus himself commanded us to go into the world and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:19.

Who says that an act of man (baptism by immersion) will save you? Baptism is an obedient symbol of the death and resurrection of Jesus. Just like the Lord's Supper, it reminds us to look forward to His return.

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith. And that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God."

Water nor being baptized will save you. Only by the grace of God though faith in Jesus Christ will you be saved.

Those are excellant verses...but they really are not conclusive regarding baptism.

Baptism doe not "save" God does. Baptism is a Sacrament during which we receive God's saving grace and the Holy Spirit.

How about these:
Mt 28:
19 Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit,
20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age."

and these:
Mk 16:
15 He said to them, "Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature.
16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned.

And more from the Catechism of the Catholic Church:
1226 From the very day of Pentecost the Church has celebrated and administered holy Baptism. Indeed St. Peter declares to the crowd astounded by his preaching: "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." The apostles and their collaborators offer Baptism to anyone who believed in Jesus: Jews, the God-fearing, pagans. Always, Baptism is seen as connected with faith: "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household," St. Paul declared to his jailer in Philippi. And the narrative continues, the jailer "was baptized at once, with all his family."

1227 According to the Apostle Paul, the believer enters through Baptism into communion with Christ's death, is buried with him, and rises with him: Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
The baptized have "put on Christ." Through the Holy Spirit, Baptism is a bath that purifies, justifies, and sanctifies.

1228 Hence Baptism is a bath of water in which the "imperishable seed" of the Word of God produces its life-giving effect.St. Augustine says of Baptism: "The word is brought to the material element, and it becomes a sacrament."
