I have three of his books and have often followed his recommendations when buying wine. I think he's pretty good.

His book on Bordeaux is indispensible for a serious Bordeaux drinker.

He is strong, but not overpowering...Aromatic with a hint of cedar and taste of antiquity, suggesting a synergy of flavoring, reminiscent of a hearty Welsh rarebit or perhaps, a nice hamburger.
