You cannot ship through regular US mail. It is illegal to send alcohol of any kind through US Mail. You can use Fed Ex or UPS to send to certain states. see webstie below for listing of what states have what requirements. California is a reciprocal state, meaning that you can ship to any other reciprocal state using fed ex or UPS with no problem. Masschusettes is a restricted state. So . Since you are in california, I would recommend going to a shipping company that specializes in wine shipments. There are tons here in Napa. And they take care of whatever shipping needs to happen. Otherwise Fed Ex is my preferred company. An adult over age of 21 will need to sign for any wine shipped.

I would contact whichever shipper you are interested in using and see what can be done. Each also has a web-site. Even if it turns out to be legal, as a liquid, it will have special handling requirements. Play it safe & make contact with the professionals that will be moving the product for you.

Also, if you got it from a wine dealer they may have recommendations for you.

The following is from the USPS Customer's Guide to Mailing;

Keep the Mail Safe: Hazardous and Restricted Materials
Some things cannot be mailed or can be mailed only in small
quantities for safety and legal reasons. Some items have restrictions on how they can be mailed including:
· Aerosol cans
· Firearms
· Flammable materials
· Liquids and powders
· Lottery tickets
· Poisons

Some items, however, are not permitted in the mail including:
· Alcohol and liquor
· Ammunition
· Drug paraphernalia
· Fireworks and other explosives

Call 1·800·ASK·USPS or visit your Post Office if you have questions about the item you want to mail.

So, you may need to try UPS or FedEx.

It is legal as long as it is a gift and you aren't selling it. Otherwise you need to have the recipient sign off that they are of legal drinking age in the state it is sent to.
UPS and Fedex and all will allow shipment if you disclose contents, USPS has a website to check.
Calif wineries are fighting to be able to ship wines to more states, some states are blocking the move to protect their own wineries. There is legislation pending to force interstate commerce to open the US market and not allow states to limit competition.
Check the websites for your desired shipper, or pack it carefully in one of the wine shipping boxes you can get at any good wine or liquor store.

I am continually amazed at how many people give incorrect and misleading answers on this site. If you don't know what you are talking about- move on to another question! This isn't "Yahoo! Guesses", it's "Yahoo! Answers". That said, here's the deal- individuals cannot legally ship alcoholic beverages, period. Think about it- alcohol is one of the most heavily regulated and heavily taxed products in the world. All sorts of licenses and permits are required to manufacture, sell, and transport it. The government is not likely to waive all these laws just so you can send a bottle to your granny in Poughkeepsie.

So you mean 'bottling up of emotion'? (here - Love). You may mean it literally, but metaphorically, bottling up of emotion(s), lead to an ocean of emotion forming within, with huge waves, longing to connect and you can't just let it out as per your own wish. It comes out like a volcanic eruption whenever it wants to. It's like a coiled spring - the more you thrust it and force yourself on it, the moment you leave it, the higher it will bounce back. So, never bottle up emotion(s). What eventually will come out will not be love, but only misery. Love chooses you, and you don't choose love. Love is like falling in it before even realising, so perhaps, one can never ever 'decide' when to be loved and when not be since 'decision making' ventures nowhere near it. Therefore, bottling it up would only show your insecurity - as if you want to own it and want it to behave the way you want to. Further, we all possess love inside which manifests itself when the time is right & ripe. And then connect with the other. It just flows.. so when you can't possibly cage or bottle the love you possess within yourself, it's never wise, to put someone's love inside a bottle and then tag it as 'my love'. It's no longer yours. It's yours when you give it wings and just let it fly.. high!

Call your local postoffice. I use to work at the po and I think it is legal if it is wrapped right. By that, I am sure you have to box it, and wrap it in brown paper. Tell the postal clerk what it is so they can stamp it fragil.
