Hi there...ideally, having her fixed is a benefit to you and her overall long-term health.
Female cats who become sexually mature will
- yowl days and nights on end while in heat which can become unbearable for you and your neighbours
- have a desire to roam to become impregnated
- urine spray (marking territory) http://home.ivillage.com/pets/cats/0,,2j21,00.html
-Spaying and neutering can eliminate or reduce the incidence of a number of health problems that can be very difficult or expensive to treat
- Spaying eliminates the possibility of uterine or ovarian cancer and greatly reduces the incidence of breast cancer, particularly when your pet is spayed before her first estrous cycle

It's a good idea. I waited 6 or 7 years to get my female cats spayed because they never left the apartment. It was a mistake. The first few years they were fine but eventually they started going into heat CONSTANTLY. All they did was make a terrible yowl/screaming sound all day and night. I would be laying in bed screaming "SHUT UP" because I couldn't sleep at night. Sometimes they would be a little aggressive too. Then, they started spraying all my furniture. They sprayed my walls, my bed, ME, everything. I had no idea that female cats sprayed since everyone always said it was the male cats that did that. They turned into little hormone monsters. I finally brought them in and the stopped spraying and no one goes into heat anymore. It was the best thing I ever did and I should have done when they were much younger.

Yes! For your own sanity and hers. If she is an inside cat, she will still go into heat and she will drive you crazy with her howling! If she hasn't gone into heat yet, (she's at that age already) take her right away to the vet to have her spayed. If you decide to wait and she goes into heat, I promise you, you will either let her out because she is driving you crazy and she WILL come back pregnant and then you have the worry of placing these kittens into good homes. Or she will drive you crazy enough that you will want to take her to the vet to have her "fixed". The vet can spay a cat while she is in heat but it will be very expensive vs. spaying her before she goes into heat. You both will have a long and happy life together if you spay her now and inside cats make better pets.

This is strictly up to you. If she is an in-door cat ONLY--at ALL times, you don't necessarily have to have her spayed. However, when she come into heat, believe me, she will drive you completely crazy with all the hollering going on, as she wants to mate. Unless you have a pure breed of some kind and intend to breed her, for your own sanity, it would be a good idea to get her spayed, and NOW is the right time before she comes into heat. Hope this help you make a decision.

You will have to get her spayed or in about another month you and she will both be miserable. When she goes into heat she will cry/yowl non stop. Not her regular meow but much worse and 24 hours a day. And since she stays inside there will be no escape from it! I waited to have my kitty spayed and after she went into heat I thought I would lose my mind. And she was as miserable as I was. She seemed very uncomfortable. When I got another kitten, I made sure to spay her before she reached that point.

female kitties are so much more friendly after they are spayed. an unspayed cat will be very annoying when in heast- you cannot guarantee the kitty will not escape and find sex and make many kitties--and an unspayed kitty gets mean as dickens if not allowed to have sex.
please have your kitty fixed--i know kitty is not broken, but this surgery is something that over time is best for kitty and you. kitty will not want to wander or be mean after the surgery because there willbe no more hormone production, so the need to go outside to mate will be gone and kitty will be much more loving and sweet --you are kitty's momms--keep her safe. this helps.

Believe me, when she reaches sexual maturity she will be extremely clever and determined about getting out of the house - then you will be dealing with a cat who may get infected with FIV or feline leukemia to say nothing about your dealing with pregnancy and kitten birth.
Statistically female cats who have even one heat cycle are very prone to having mammary cancer later in life. That is also something you would not want to deal withh - major surgery involving bilateral mastectomy of all the teats on both sides of her body, chemotherapy. That cancer is very aggressive in cats and even those extraordinary efforts might not save her life.
So she will have a happier and healthier life if she has the surgery now to remove her reproductive organs.

The answer is no, you do not. But...consider this: Not only will you not have to listen to your cat's constant yowling when she is in heat (and believe me it's loud and obnoxious), but she will have less trouble regulating her weight, she won't mark any territory (which some females do when in heat), she won't get ovarian or uteran cancer, and it will absolutely save you from any instance where she may get outside and accidently get pregnant. So it may sound like a lot of money now, but in the end it'll likely save you money on raising kittens and finding them homes, as well as make both of you happier!

Once she goes into heat she will drive you nuts. She will want constant attention. She will go into heat every other week until she get pregnant or until you give in and have her spayed. Not too mention, if a male gets anywhere near her they will do whatever they can to get together. You are much better off having her neutered.

Besides what has already been answered, it eliminates some unpleasant habits that kitties generally have when they are not spayed. (i.e. howling when they go into heat...most of the time in the middle of the night while you are trying to sleep, no less).
