Maybe not for entertainment value, but I believe at least 90% of the Bible is fiction. A talking, burning bush? A man who gets crucified while bleeding profusely through the head and stabbed through his lungs (who also has no physical father?) can come back to life for 3 days? A 40 day rain that covers the ENTIRE Earth in water? (Talk to anybody in Seattle and see if they're underwater yet)

By some measure, the BIble might seem to simply be a Fiction book, when we read about the stroeis of Noahs Ark, the great Giant phillistine ect, it seems like a book of fairytells. listen to this Long quote From Billy graham "But there are clear reasons why we can believe in the authority of the Bible. A study of the fulfilled prophecies of the Bible alone would undeniably confirm the fact that it was divinely inspired and that only God could have brought about the fulfillment of so many prophecies in the proper time to the proper person and in the proper sequence. Jesus Himself used the Scriptures as the authoritative Word of God (Matthew 4:4-10) and declared that their authority could not be broken (John 10:35). The more one studies the Scriptures, the more one becomes aware of the fact that the Bible passes every test that can be applied to it in order to evaluate its divine inspiration, authority, and inerrancy. We also know that the Bible is God's Word because of the transformation we have seen it make in the lives of those who read, believe, and live by its teaching. It is God's own Word, His saving truth which He has spoken to mankind. It is inspired from beginning to end, and it is the only infallible guide of faith and practice—read 2 Timothy 3:16-17 and 2 Peter 1:19-21." (Billy Graham) this qoute can be found at

So it is clear, the BIble upon further examination does supprt its claims to accuracy and divivnity, I would Hope and pray that you would examine the BIble and its claims yourself. The Most important claim the BIble makes, is the Claim to the cure to sin and death. The BIble says sin is transgression of the Ten Commandments. Every time you Lie, steal, look with lust, use Gods name in vain, or covet, you sin against God and bring about his anger. The Bible says God demands Holiness, perefection in thought word and deed and he will on the day of Judgement issue Punishment to those guilty of breaking His Law. The Bible says "all liars will have thier part in the lake of fire" and "no theif or adulterer will enherit the Kingdom of God". God is perfect, and when he speaks of Justice he is serious. But heres the good news. God himself came to earth, was nailed to the cross and became the final punishment for your sins. You broke the Law But Jesus paid your fine. What you Must do is repent (turn from sin) and place your faith and trust in Jesus, the moment you do God will forgive you and grant you everlasting life.
I Hope you will examine this claim and repent and trust in jesus and see for yourself, his mercy and forgiveness.
God Bless

The Bible is to perfect to be written by a man. There are no contradictions between any of the readings on the Bible. Man makes the contradictions when he/she try to use it on his/hers on way. The Bible is the word of God, and it has the power to change anybodies life. It might look as fiction but it is not.

taken alone and by itself it is really just a history book of how man continually repeats his past. I don't think it was for entertainment because in that day and age there really wasn't "entertainment" books out there. mostly I think it was to give people a reason to look at what was happening to them and the world around them. Possibly to expidite a change in the world, but most of what happened were wars over who believed what. so it really depends on where you choose to place your faith. in yourself or in what was written.

Yes, it has value for entertainment and also teaching stories to train from. A good story doesn't have to be true to teach you an important lesson.

the bible is not all true. it was written as a set of morals for us to live by with examples of every situation. i don't think god meant for us to take the whole thing literally, but use it help show the right decisions to make in everyday life.

Nah. The laws were just that laws. The best knowledge of the day about how things worked. You ear pork you will probably die so don't eat it. Prophecy might have been entertainment. Pulp fiction of it's day that people dug out when something seemed to fulfill it. When it was made it was probably, rightly derided as lunacy. Even a stuck clock is right twice a day. A blind pig finds a nut now and again.

It is possible for you to believe that parts of it are made up. But, there is a lot of historical fact therein as well. Whatever you believe, it all boils down to a matter of faith. Just as God intended. Much of science is the same way. I.e. the big bang theory. When you take things as far back in time as you can go, at some point you have to take a leap of faith. I'll take the one that leads to everlasting life. How about you?

Possible? I thought that was the whole point of the Bible. I liken it unto those folk who still play dungeons and dragons, it keeps them off the streets and fills up their time with something. Although I must say if I win the New Jersey Lottery on Friday I might be whistling another tune, LOL; I like to hedge my bets~!!!!!

I see where you're going with this thought, but all in all I still think theologies were invented to "explain" that which man wondered about.... so instead of entertainment it was more like explanation.
Kinda like Yahoo answers.
