when I dvd from terrestrial tv I can only watch terrestrial tv. When I dvd a sky channel I can watch the sky channel being dvd'd or terrestrial tv. What am I doing wrong?

make sure the ariel lead is going into the dvd recorder/hdd. then when you want to record from TV change the input source on you recorder to TV. then you can watch sky.
unfortuately you cant watch one sky channel and record another
