as an addendum to this question, I am not looking at conspiracry theories just curiosity, as having looked at other information concerning the gnostic gospels, which cannot be translated properly due to a degradation of the materials themselves.

A common misconception is that the early Christians looked to Rome and the Vatican for their leadership. The fact is that there were many splits and groups in the Christian faith prior to the Council of Nicene in 325AD and the begins of what would become the Catholic church in 1059AD.
We have manuscripts from groups such as the Coptic Christian. They were Jewish Christian driven out of Israel when it was destroyed by the Romans in 70AD. They settled in Egypt and were not only independent of Roman and the Catholic church, but - because they were Jewish - persecuted by them. They preserved a large number of New Testament manuscripts, independent of Rome, that date back to as much as 200 years before the Nicene council, yet are word for word identical to the manuscripts approved by the Council. Remarkable evidence of the accuracy and reliability of the NT text used today.
Add to that the Armenian Christians, who split off prior to the Nicene Council, the Orthodox church, the Ethiopian church, the churches in Britian and Ireland where the Romans left around the time of the Nicene Council and the churches there grew with no papel input for centuries. The Marcions, who split with the main church in the second century. Early churches as far away as India and western China, separated for centuries from Roman, yet preserving identical manuscripts of the New Testament. Churchs throughout northern and central Africa, which remained independant of Rome.
All these splinter groups, many of which still exist today, would have no reason to bow to Rome. In fact, many where enemies to the Roman church. Yet the New Testament manuscripts they preserve are INDENTICAL to the ones preserved by the Vatican. And often PREDATE the Nicene Council were alledged all kinds of "changes" were made to the Bible and Christian theology. Yet doctrines like the Trinity and the deity of Christ are held by the vast majority of these others groups, again prior to the Nicene Council. The litergies, prayer books, and hymnals of these groups still survive, and show their belief in Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and the deity of Christ as far back as the late first century. (200-250 years before the Nicene's supposedly invented those concepts).
Does the Vatican have old manuscripts hidden away from public knowledge? Obviously. About 50 years ago the Vatican presented a codec (early versions of what would become a "book") which contains the early 100% complete New Testament knew. Apparently it have been "buried" away in a basement vault for about 1500 years, unknown to anyone. There are probably other treasures in the buildings of the Vatican.
But is there any evidence that they have documents that contradite and disprove the New Testament - other gospels, etc. No. If fact, most of the gnostic documents that we have today are only known because they were preserved by the Vatican and other Catholic libraries. They have been publicly available for nearly 2000 years. So why would they make all those available and hide others?
If there are other documents, why were they not preserved by any of these other, often competing, groups? If the Nicene Fathers were changed the scriptures, how did they get all these other groups to cooperate and alter all of their ancient manuscripts to match? How did they alter the ones that were all fragmented and unreadable at the time of the Council? Did someone pick piece by piece through the thousand of fragments and recreate them?
When one actually takes the time to look at the early manuscripts, there is no evidene to suggest that there exist any "real" gospels or other manuscripts that are deliberately buried by the Vatican.

There most certainly is such material. There are several Gospels that the Vatican has attempted to suppress - with some success.
There's even one written by - Gasp! Horrors - a WOMAN! Look up the Nag Hammadi documents, also known as the Gnostic Gospels.
There are also scriptures that detail the childhood of the individual known as Jesus...sometimes these materials are referred to as the Jewish Apocrypha. The Vatican, claiming Godly privilege, chose which documents it considers appropriate for public consumption and attempts to suppress the rest.

The Roman Catholic Church has never tolerated dissent and has slaughtered many thousands of Jews and heretics. The public was to believe only what they were told and to read only what was approved by the Church. The list of forbidden books was abolished in the 1960s and was kept in the office of the current Pope.
There were bloody battles fought in the 16th century when Protestants broke away from the Church and when the Bible was first printed in a language the common people were able to read. I don't know whether their archives contain forbidden writings today -- I suspect anything forbidden was destroyed -- similar to the thousands of Talmuds and Torah scrolls burned together with Jews in their synagogues.

well i dont have any evidence but i do believe that the Vatican has withheld scriptures and information of a historical nature. They do seem (from what i have read and heard) very head strong and dont wish to be trialed on anything they have stated as fact, so maybe they choose what information to give and and what to release. there are definatly some secrets in there we dont know about.

Of course, they do since there used to be Christianity war between sects especially between Catholics & Protestants.
The truth is, the Bible nowadays already lost it's holyness as almost 100% of the content have been altered and manipulated my Christians clerics eversince the fall of Byzantine in Constantinople.
