Not unless you want to.

I live in Ireland and the smoking ban has been in place since March 2004 and many people, smokers included like it. I myself am a social smoker, and I must admit I didn't like it one bit at first. But as time went on I realised that my clothes didn't stink of crap the next day, I smoked less cigs during the course of the night which saved me money and I meet some top notch people when I nip out for a fág when at the pub. I've met some good friends since then and am smoking less when out, though still enjoying it.

I just like to see the positive side of things. I actually enjoy nipping out for one now. Plus, if I want to I can drink in my house with a cig, which a lot of people do also.

I'm not a smoker myself and whilst i agree with the smoking ban i think its the slippery slope for us all. Alcohol and junk food is also bad for your health but i don't see the government banning these. Who knows it will soon be illegal to smoke in your own home!!

Having said all that, yes you should give up smoking but not because of the ban but because you want to. Good luck and i Hope you succeed

I stopped smoking when the ban was introduced into Scotland! I stopped the same day! But alas I'm smoking again cos I was fed up being left alone in the pub while all my friends went outside for a puff!!!!

I plan on it...in the process of that right now. The ban here does not go into effect until June 7, but I'm on my last pack. Good luck to you!

Yes, you should stop smoking before it comes in full force because smoking is bad for your lungs. It can create bad breath, confusion, and a bad habbit.

Yes. I did and opened an ISA with the money I saved. Bought a nearly new Ford Focus on the proceeds! Love it!

I found it easier to do it that way.
Especially since I live in a colder climate...and the ban hit right at the coldest time of year.

Oh tell me about it, smoking isn't going to be any fun any more, us smokers seem confined to our back gardens. In Scotland you are not allowed to smoke while driving (if you do a van driving job).
