My friend uses photos as postcards all the time! It's the most personalized way you can say "hey check this out!" She just draws a line down the back, writes her message on the left, address on the right, and sticks a post-card stamp on it! They arrive a little scratched, but if your purpose isn't to send an award-winning photo to be framed and hung on the wall, then it usually isn't a problem.

One of my jobs allowed me the fun tasks of learning all the postal regulations. :) A photo is going to get pretty hammered in the mailig process. So it will have scrapes and marks all over it. It also won't be thick enough for mailing either. Just as an FYI, you can order 100 postcards for $20, which is probably cheaper than printing/ink/paper and customize them fully just like you are talking about at www.printsmadeeasy.com and you can save 20% with code UPGRADE too. They'll take the beating better and print nicer too off of the printing press. Takes just a couple days to get them.

maximum size for a postcard is 4.25 x 6 inches.
The minimum thickness is .007" and the maximum is .016" (I'm not sure how to measure that) I have a friend who sends me postcards that are pictures glued to another piece of paper. You just have to make sure you get the edges glued down good so it doesn't fall apart in the sorting machines.

You can send absolutely anything by post as long as its legal, the duty is paid/stamped and the address is clear. My dad once sent me square thin piece of wood with some artwork on it. Just stamped it and wrote the address right onto the wood! I was really surprised but as long as its paid and post-able then it s possible.
Just don t be surprised if it gets a bit bent or damaged...

They sell special paper to print photos out as postcards. You can pick it up at any stationary store like Staples or probably even Wal-Mart.
Check out their websites and see. they run for about $12 for 200 cards.

Yes, just make sure that the paper is sturdy enough to withstand the rigors of mailing.
