Please, don't EVER use an air horn or whistle on a telemarketer!
Heinz, you should be ashamed of yourself! Those poor people are just doing their job. And a tough, thankless job it is, with little pay in a very stressful call-center environment. You could really injure someone's eardrum with such a prank and that is not at all funny.
Just register with the do-not-call registry, as others have suggested and don't take it out on the caller.

Register with the Do Not Call registry. If you still get the calls after the DNC waiting period, you can report the callers to DNC and they will be fined.
Edited to add: Certain people are excluded from DNC. If you already have a relationship with a company, or if it's a non-profit or government agency, they can still call you even if your number is listed in DNC.
Also, remember to list ALL of your numbers in Do Not Call; including your cell number.

You can register with the "no-call registry". This is supposed to put you on a no-call list. It will cut the calls a bit, buttelemarketers will still call, assuming that oyu will not take the trouble to report them or to follow up on their being banned from calling you. You can get caller ID, and not answer or just as easily hang up.
I hang up on them. They still call, over and over, but I do not feel any obligation to listen.

Look up the "do not call" list. Most states, if not all, have it and it prevents telemarketers from calling- actually makes it illegal.

Yes these bastards suck. I just report them to the do not call registry.
Try using an air horn on their calls, maybe you'll blow someones ears out!
There is a device you can hook to your phone called 'Phonezap'.
The first time anyone calls it picks the calls up (your phone doesn't ring). They get the message that you don't accept soliciting calls, but if they hit a key (I think it is 3) they can make your phone ring.
If it is someone you want to get calls from, you put it into the units VIP memory and from then on they never hear that message again.
It's like having your own secretary filtering your spam calls.

1. Register your phone number on the Do Not Call registry. You can do this online at www.donotcall.gov
2. Use call block for the specific numbers that call you.

Sign up for the Do Not Call Registry.
Credit card companies that you do business with can still call.
I think that there are huge penalties if you tell them to stop and they don't.
UNLESS it is for collection of a debt. Obviously they are going to keep calling if you owe them money.

The next time they call you, don't let them speak. Start talking rubbish. Try to sell something to them instead, like your old sock or sumting as ridiculous, they'll either think your a retard and stop calling or think you're they competition and stop calling, either way you win.
