I live in 'College Park, Ga. My fiancee and i would like to join a church. Demonition really isn't an issue. We would just like the church to be similar to that of Joyce Meyer, or the like. A lecture, more than tons of reading followed by tons of singing.

Good churches are hard to find anymore. Many of the Godly people I know are looking for teaching, but so many churches are into entertaining. It seems they all want to be a mega-church. 'Mature' Christians are disgusted with the lack of depth in the sermons as are the Christians who are ready to grow. The new Christians probably don't know if 1 Samuel is in the old or new testament let alone why Christ had to die on the cross.

Sad subject.

You can find teaching on-line, though. I visit Sermonindex sometimes. I also listen to some teachings of Michael Pearl, but he's a 'shock' teacher that not everyone likes. He says something totally foreign to you out front and then spends the next hour making his case for it. At least it forces you to think.

Ultimately, for me, the absolute best sermon ever is 'Ten Shekels and a Shirt' by Paris Reidhead. You can find it on Sermonindex.

I am familiar with College Park, by the way, so I'm something of a neighbor. ;-)

At your local Kingdom Hall, the meeting begins and ends with a song and prayer. There is always a public talk on Sunday or Saturday which really gets to the meat of God's word. Twice during the week, there are other meetings. One, they will begin an in-depth study of the book of Revelation starting next week. The other is short, training talks for the ministry given by several different people. Again, there is an opening and closing song and prayer but what you learn will be so worth it, you will be glad you went. Take your Bible. You aren't required to use it but you may want to look something up and most everyone else will be using theirs. It is the same all over the world. You won't just get your ears tickled. May God bless your efforts to find a home.

Creflo Dollar has a wonderful church right there in College Park. I can't remember the name of it though. It's a very good Bible teaching church.
