It is the French Battleship Jean Bart or Richelieu, notice the quad turrets. The Iowa Class Battleships had three triple turrets of 16 inch 50 caliber guns. The only two battleships produced that had quadruple turrets are the British King George V class and the French Battleships like the Jean Bart. The King George V class had a Quad turret in the A and D positions but only a dual turret in the B and D positions so it can not be a British battleship, It has to be one of the French Battleships.

its not American. Us Navy Battleships only housed 3 Gun turrets in their mains. Not 4...............

It appears it is French. But not the Richelieu.

Looking at your photo and the ones submitted by the answerers. The Richelieu did not have the horzitonal masts as shown in your picture.

I am thinking it is the Dunkerque. Fast-Battleship

What you have here is the French battleship Jean Bart she differs from the Richelieu in the bridge structure notable the addition of a second enclosed bridge area over the old bridge.

Looks like a Merchant Marine, Don't see any insignia's anywhere, *Looks very much like the Indianapolis, the flying bridge and sixpack on the bow.

** On further review..This ship has an eight pack afore' leading me to believe CrazyHorse has zeroed in on the most likely suspect. My vote goes to him.

Bismarck?

Edit:
Definitly not US made or Iowa, quad turrets gave it away. I guess the French have this one!

It's a battleship. Without seeing the numbers on the bow there is really little way of knowing. Could be the USS New Jersey or maybe the USS Missouri
