What species of bird flies as a flock in a downward spiral?

Some hit the ground and die.

Many birds will fly in a spiral -- turkey & black vultures, many hawks when migrating, blackbirds when collecting to fly to a roost. Have NEVER heard of any that fly into the ground and die, sorry.
