The only way to get rid of split ends is to cut them. Since they are higher up I understand not wanting to do that all at once. You should cut as much as you are comfortable with then trim every six weeks. You will see much healthier hair this way. After you trim it, make sure you take your multivitamins and a bit extra vitamin B. Use a good shampoo and conditioner. I like Pantene Pro-V. Use a deep conditioner 1-2 times a week. Put it on your hair then wrap your head in a dryer warmed towel for 30 minutes or leave it wrapped in a bun for 8 hours. I also use a hot oil treatment from VO5 once a week. Don't use a brush on wet hair. You shoud brush it before you wash it then use a wide tooth comb while it is wet. Don't blow dry until it is completely dry, stop when it is a bit damp. If you straighten your hair with an iron you might want to look into some special creams you put on your hair to retain moisture. Fantastic Sams has a good one and it is only $8.

If you have split ends in the middle of your hair shaft, the only way to actually get rid of split or broken ends is to cut them. They will just keep splitting. You can help heal them by getting some good hair products. I recommend picking up some Redken Anti Snap which is a leave in conditioner, along with the Extreme Redken Shampoo and Conditioner. Another trick is to put a dime size amount of conditioner in your hands at night and run it through your hair, keeping away from the center part, to keep from getting greasy and just leave that in over night and don't rinse out. However, be careful not to use too much, and do it when you wash your hair at night, so it's towel dried when you put the conditioner in. That will help keep your hair healthy. I hope I have helped somewhat. You should also be getting a trim every 4-6 weeks, at least 2 or 3 trims a year, to keep splits at bay!!!!

If u have split ends but not at the bottom of your hair, those are being caused by poor diet (not enough water, smoking,) the way you comb your hair , or the use of hair accesories to pull the hair
in place into tight or twisted pony tails that break the natural fibers of the hair if none of this apply to you : then most probably you have a hormonal issue that needs to be treated by a doctor. now how do you get rid of the split end. keep in mind the hair like the nails are dead cells they dont heal or repair this means no matter what you put on your hair is not going to really fix it, save your money from expensive oils and treatments that will only coat the hair but wont really repair it, the only option is to get a haircut, to get rid of the split end otherwise the split end will continue to grow bigger; include in your diet jello gellatin (eat it),your hair and nails will benefit from it (dont put it on the hair or nails wont do a thing for them). hope this helps.

Make sure you get your hair cut regularly. It is the only fool proof way of getting rid of split ends- you should be getting it done about once every six weeks. Other tips- when drying your hair, make sure the air is not too hot and that you hold the dryer away from your head. Try not to use too much heat on your hair. Also, about once a week use a deep conditioning treatment, I put it on and sleep with it in my hair, wash it out in the morning.

Sounds like the cuticle layer of your hair has opened due to some damage, probably putting your hair in a ponytail. This will have to be cut out. There are things on the market that can help patch or band aid these spots until they grow out to a length you can stand to lose. But be careful, alot of these products promise help when actually they can cause more damage. I would go to a good salon and talk to a stylist about what to use.

Go to a professional shop. They can trim all your ends by the very way they cut your hair. Ask them for a product that will help strengthen your hair so you can be proactive in preventing them. When I was younger I had the same problem and started using a Paul Mitchell conditioner that helped alot. Experiment.

You have no choice but to have your hair trimmed. Tell the stylist you don't want to lose any length but you want the ends trimmed. Avoid using hair brushes- try using combs. When curling your hair, avoid the ends and don't leave the iron on your hair for more than 5 seconds. Use a good conditioner such as Paul Mitchell's brands.

I would suggest getting a trim (but just to get off the split ends. Then you should get a really good hair shampoo and conditioner. I use Matrix (orange one). It is expensive but works great on my hair. You can get it in any hair salon.

You can try vitamins, good conditioner but it just will not help. Nothing can fix your split ends but a good hairdresser who will cut them. Vitamins, conditioners and hair packs can only prevent that from happening but not "heal" your ends.
I myself founded a little harder to find a good hairdresser who will not only cut the length of my hair but take the time and effords to cut as much split ends as possible (that takes a lot of time - I spent 2 hours in the barbershop to get my long hair fixed).
