My son is almost 2 years old and his hair is a wreck on the top of his's head he has soft wavys and in the back he has his dad's nappy hair and everyone keps telling me to cut it all off to see if it grows in all the same. His hair is around 4 inches long and a light brown color and His father and agreed not to cut it cuz we want it braided, but he wont sit still long enough for any one to braid it right now. So I keep it in ponys for now. What can I do to get his hair texture the same with out cutting it.

My two year old son has long lovely hair. The only problem is that in the back it's nappy and on the top it has light waves. My biggest problem with that is every one tells me to cut it and I really don't want to cuase it has a beuatiful color and he's so handsome with it, But I was told that the only thing I should do is cut it all off. Is there a way to get it more of the same type with out damging his hair and so it would be easier to care for it?

you can't do anything here,...

he is what he is, and beautiful at that

The Barber will have to do his best!

or,..perm the whole head and that is just un-natural.

My sister and I are biracial (and then some) and when we were little my mom was silly to cut our hair twice bald thinking that our hair texture would grow in different (I even have the bald pics!!). What happened? Nothing. It grew back the same. What you see is what you get. Also, your son is only 2. His hair texture may keep changing and even out on it's own. My sister and I were born and had soft curls up until we were toddlers and as time went on we took on our dad's nappy (but lovely) hair. Good luck!

Wow! You're question has seriously infurieated me. Not because of the ignorant question you asked, but because of the twisted way in which you asked. Which texture would you prefer? All wavy? All "nappy"? Please do as someone else suggested and take this baby to an African-American barber for a haircut.

First adopt a better attitude about the wealth of his heritage , so he doesn't inherit negative attitudes about his hair. Traditionally, African Americans don't cut a boy's hair until after age two. Take your son to an African American barber or salon and get their recommendation.

Best of Luck.

His hair is his hair. You can't alter its texture or makeup. At most, a good haircut will tame it some. Please celebrate your son's differences and don't try to make him (or his hair) reflect your tastes. I wouldn't sit still for braids, either!

Sorry, but you cant change it. It's genetics and DNA meaning they will never change no matter how hard you try...
Sorry, but your son is your son and I guess you should love him for who he is. Oh and if the hair is a problem then I guess it would be okay if you BUZZ cut it ...really short...after that. No one will really notice.
