You are mistaken. Girls do not have to be younger for marriage. The maturity factor does exist, but there is no scientific reason for women being younger when they marry. It is an old tradition based little in science, and based a lot in culture. These days women marry younger men all the time.

Good question that I actually gave some thought too. If I had to guess I would say that it has to do with childbearing and raising children.. Men can do their part of the creation of life well into old age, women have a clock to live by. Also women are more involved with the raising of children and thus more important to children longer. Us guys are more disposable for the kids raising. Well, that's my guess...good question.
